Taeus Introduces TIPScores -- a Patent's Value
Patent analysis service rates patent quality.
Colorado Springs, CO (PRWEB) November 11, 2006 -- TAEUS International Corporation (TAEUS) announced TIPScore, an objective patent's value and quality rating, at Ocean Tomo's "Fall 2006 Live Intellectual Property Auction" in New York last week. Taeus published TIPScores for 46 patents lots being auctioned at the event.
"TIPScore is an objective rating analysis of a patent," said Art Nutter, president and CEO of TAEUS, "much as Moody's Investors Service provides objective rating analysis for commercial securities. TIPScores represent a much needed objective measure for Intellectual Property patent assets."
TIPScore ratings range from 1.0 to 5.0. A Subject Matter Expert analyses a patent's technical quality or TIPScore, using eight key factors proven to influence the "quality of a patent". The patent's quality is defined as the likelihood the patent can be successfully and profitably licensed. A TIPScore rating of 3.0 or better is a good indicator of the patent's value, according to Nutter.
"The Ocean Tomo auction results verified the value of TIPScores," according to Nutter. "Patent lots with a TipScore of 3.0 or higher showed combined sales of $2,850,000 versus $10,000.00 for patent lots where the TipScore was rated under 3.0. That represents a home run for TIPScore."
