Data Storage Now More Affordable for Every American Business
Sunstar announced today that it has a new mission; to equip every business no matter its size with a data backup strategy through a series of initiatives to make data storage affordable for every size of business.
Inglewood, CA (PRWEB) November 11, 2006 -- Sunstar announced today that it has a new mission; to equip every business no matter its size with a data backup strategy through a series of initiatives to make data storage affordable for every size of business. "Everyone knows that they need to backup their data," says Sunstar Marketing Director Gavin Rosenberg, "but a lot of smaller businesses say they can't afford to implement and maintain a feasible strategy." Through a series of offerings such as no-cost expert consultation, a business to product matching service, and high approval financing, Sunstar plans to change that misconception.
"For a long time the data storage industry only catered to the enterprise business customer," says Rosenberg, "but today there are top-notch tape libraries and NAS systems designed specifically for the small business." Tape libraries such as the Overland ARCvault 12 and 24 released last month and the NetApp Storevault FAS200 released earlier this month, have made it possible for small and medium sized business to have enterprise grade solutions at an affordable price.
The SMB (small to midsized business) is a new market for both Overland and NetApp, but both, says Rosenberg, are "high quality solutions." Though some companies began to offer products for the SMB market earlier this year, Sunstar refrained from adding them to their product line due to quality and scalability. "If it's not a quality product, we won't even offer it to our customers," says Rosenberg.
The reason he says, is because Sunstar's customers trust their trained professionals to "make it work. They don't -- and shouldn't have to—understand everything about every component like we do." As part of the company's initiative, it will offer free consultation and learn about a company's businesses operations, staffing, and data storage needs. Sunstar will also offer a personalized business to product matching service, taking into consideration all of these factors along with the company's budget and plans for growth.
Sunstar has also made financing available and has recently reorganized their application process to make funding available to more companies. With the release of products like Overland's Tape Library and NetApp's NAS solution, the cost of enterprise grade storage has dropped significantly as well. Comparable systems that once cost upward of $15,000 are now available for around $5,000.
"Losing data is far more costly than implementing a true data backup strategy," says Rosenberg. According to a report by the National Archives Record Administration, 93% of businesses who lose their data for more than 10 days file bankruptcy within a year. While complete data loss doesn't happen often, it does happen to hundreds of American companies each year whether because of a virus, system fault, or a natural disaster. With Sunstar's pledge, no company need face that situation due to lack of knowledge about or financing for a data backup system.
