We, Humans, Are The Only Creatures That Throw Party: Only a handful of us can provide music for the many to dance. We are the only creatures that Cook, play Sport, engage in Leisure Activities, laugh and celebrate; all because we are the only creatures with freed hands for work and freed legs for dance.
Yet we've become the most frightened of creatures even in our own homes: We are the only creatures that kill themselves in the name of Religion. We live in communities that are bedeviled by Crime. We are constantly troubled by Suicide Bombers and their threats. We can no longer board aeroplanes without thinking about Bombs. We don't even know who we are: Some believe we were created; others say we evolved from an ape. The Believers in our midst are even more divided over what we are supposed to be in existence for. The Mejai thinks we cannot go on like this; hence the novel uses the life story of a boy called Deji-Vita to draw our attention to what we face; and what we can turn to next in this our moment of great crisis.
Deji-Vita goes to sit by a riverside, after hearing that he and his fellow humans evolved from an ape and were not created at all, as he had thought. An old seer joins him at the riverside; and predicts that Deji-Vita would one day come across a great teacher that would turn him into one of the greatest servants of men. The prediction comes true: Deji-Vita finds himself in the presence of The Mejai, whose teachings open Deji-Vita's eyes to some great secrets of life. Deji-Vita now knows How Crime Can Be Tackled Without Nasty Prisons; he now knows the Hidden Reasons Behind Abject Poverty in our World; he now, also, knows The Damages That The Theory of Evolution Does to The Minds of Kids amongst other hidden facts of life. Deji-Vita is asked to go and fight the rulers of his country with his newly found knowledge and bring prosperity to his long suffering people; and that's where a disagreement ensues between Deji-Vita and The Mejai. The novel is a step-by-step Guide to Who We Are; and Why We Are.

ABOUT AUTHOR: Peter Abrahams took over 20 years gathering the materials needed for this project and others to come. His research was partly Spiritual and partly Material. This because it became quite clear to him around 1984 - through partly Spiritual and partly Material means - that there will be an unprecedented rise of terrorism in the name of Religion at the beginning of the 21st Century. We now have organisations like Al Qaeda that kills innocent people in the name of religion. The material aspect of his research - namely, testing and analysing key institutions in place to protect or serve us all - brought about stress-related injuries to his person. But Peter Abrahams feels the price was well worth it, as it served to supply him with ample evidence to support his understanding of human nature...our common starting point in life.
