New Proxy Support in WiredRed's e/pop Web and Video Conferencing Alleviates Common Barriers to Connectivity

Increase connection Success ensures better online meetings and requires less technical support assistance.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) November 14, 2006 -- WiredRed®, a technology leader in real-time communications software, today announced that e/pop® Web and Video Conferencing now offers expanded support for Microsoft ISA Server and Squid Proxy, which limits web browsing to http 1.1. Many web and IP video conferencing services and software have trouble traversing older proxies and those with no proxy client, resulting in failed conference connections. By supporting more proxies and proxy configurations, e/pop is able to deliver more reliable conference connections so that virtually anyone who can browse the web can host or attend online meetings.

According to WiredRed's Founder and CTO, Allen Drennan, e/pop's new 'Get Connected' feature expands the web conferencing market to those who have been hindered by proxies in the past. It also expands the market for IP video conferencing because e/pop runs over existing networks without the need for dedicated lines, multiplexers (MUXs), session border controllers and other expensive equipment.

The use of web and video conferencing should be as seamless as browsing a web site
"The use of web and video conferencing should be as seamless as browsing a web site," said Drennan. "The point is to bring users together, communicate and conduct business online as if you were there in person. We think conference hosts will be particularly happy at being able to avoid calls from frustrated users unable to join a meeting."

e/pop was designed for business and government networks, it does not use peer-to-peer nor broadcast protocols. e/pop uses TCP/IP conference connections, and unlike streaming media, it provides live, interaction between multiple participants. The software is easily installed on the customer's private network for strictly internal meetings, or in the DMZ for meetings between employees and external participants. e/pop is highly optimized for successful firewall and proxy traversal, a growing requirement as ever increasing security drives more and more of these safeguards on corporate and government networks.

e/pop fully leverages a customer's investment in their existing network and security infrastructure, and operates within the network access, protocols and network security policies set by the IT department. For example, e/pop can use SSL, TLS, and HTTPS for secure conference connections, and at the customer's option, use their own certificate and even their own public key infrastructure (PKI) if needed for highly sensitive applications. In addition, e/pop's ability to run over existing networks means customers are not required to re-engineer their networks or buy session border controllers, MUXs and MCUs as required by many other VoIP and video products.

e/pop Pricing
e/pop Web and Video Conferencing with the new 'Get Connected' feature is available now. It is priced starting at $3,000 per year for on-premise software and $350 per month for hosted service. For more information contact WiredRed directly +1-858-715-0970.
