Benicia, CA (PRWEB) November 12, 2006 -- Acclaimed international guitarist Peppino D'Agostino headlines a fund-raiser to send 15 young people to help low-income Mexican families in a evening of music, Friday, December 8, 2006, at 6:30 p.m., at Northgate Christian Fellowship, 2201 Lake Herman Road, Benicia. The secular concert also features guitarist/vocalist Doug Houser and vocalist Megan Freedman.
The Mexico Mission program includes food, supplies and outreach to families living in poor conditions near Tijuana.
Peppino D'Agostino has achieved a unique guitar and compositional style blending technical virtuosity, prowess and wizardry wit the lyricism, fire and passion of his Mediterranean heritage. Not many guitarists are as eager to challenge the limits of their instruments -- using unconventional tunings, tapping the notes on the fretboard only, using creative percussive effects and inventing a mini orchestra of sounds that, on first listen, seem almost impossible for one lone guitar.
D'Agostino, who claims to have been "obsessed" with music since his childhood, is constantly exploring and expanding his musical knowledge. His passionate interest in a variety of musical styles has lead him to develop collaborative projects and concert tours with other master musicians such as classical guitarist David Tanenbaum and fusion/rock virtuoso and fellow Benicia resident Stef Burns.
Guitarist Peppino D'Agostino emigrated 20 years ago from his native Italy to America to pursue his dream as both a composer and performer. A self-taught musician, Peppino has released nine critically acclaimed albums. His work can also be found on many guitar samples, videos and books and he has composed various soundtracks for movies. Peppino's latest solo CD is entitled "Every Step of he Way" and has been released on Favored Nations Acoustic, an independent label founded by electric guitar hero Steve Vai.
