MediaCorp's Online TV Listing Site OnTheBox.com Launches Marketing Campaign, Enriches Content

OnTheBox.com, the UK's leading online television programme guide, is enriching its content as part of a new marketing campaign to it keep at the top of Internet search listings. As part of its revamp it is giving more details in specific programme descriptions and launching new advertising initiatives that will both enrich user experience and add to commercial potential for parent company MediaCorporation Plc.

OnTheBox.com, the UK's leading online television programme guide and listing, is enriching its content as part of a new marketing campaign to keep at the top of Internet search listings.

It has steadily grown in popularity since start up in 1998 and is now listed between first and third on key TV related searches on the leading search engine Google.

The site is part of the Publishing Division of the rapidly growing Media Corporation Plc.

"We've worked hard at making it a very user friendly, efficient TV site," said Justin Drummond MediaCorp CEO, "but we know that a good site can't rest on its laurels, and that's why we are putting this renewed effort into marketing.

There are listings for over 150 TV stations, including both free to air stations (from all UK regions) BBC, ITV, Channels 4 and 5 and the full range of satellite programmes for ten days ahead. And this week it is adding further detail to programme listings.

The listings can be sorted by theme, searched for by key words and phrases.

Registered online users can customise the site to suit their own viewing habits and set email alerts to warn them of upcoming shows they've earmarked as ones to see. They can also set up their own schedule.

"People looking online for TV schedules or trying to find out when their favourite programme is on don't want distractions on the site. They are generally not surfing. So in addition to making sure we had a comprehensive list that was as accurate as possible, ease of use was the driving factor in design," Mr Drummond said.

This has meant minimising the steps in navigating around the site. As a result the versatility of the site, and especially the ability to customise, shows why the web is so well suited to the presentation of this sort of information.

The quality of the site and its popularity is recognised by its high ranking in a Google search.
