Academic Expert Aides Growth for International Study Programs

Cultural Experiences Abroad announced that it has retained the services of Dr. Geoffrey Bannister for the 2006-2007 academic year.

Tempe, AZ (PRWEB) November 13, 2006 -- Cultural Experiences Abroad (CEA), an Arizona-based organization offering comprehensive study abroad programs for college students, announced recently that it has retained the services of Dr. Geoffrey Bannister for the 2006-2007 academic year to assist in further strengthening CEA's academic culture and academic quality assurance processes.

Caroline Walsh, Director of Development at CEA, says, “CEA has been a leader in study abroad for the past several years, but in order to maintain a healthy organization, let alone expand it, you have to be willing to listen to the wisdom and experience of others. Dr. Bannister is a wonderful addition to the CEA family, because his mentorship provides us with a keen insight that will enable .us to keep moving forward without veering off track.”

Dr. Bannister is a former Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Boston University; former President of Butler University, Indianapolis; and for the last four years he has been a founding director and the first chief executive officer and President of The Forum on Education Abroad.

Dr. Bannister, in his capacity as a consultant, will advise CEA in the following areas:

- Academic Advisory Board
- Academic Oversight of all GlobalCampus centers
- Curriculum Development for GlobalCampus Network and Implementation
- Assessment Processes (Program, GlobalCampus, Student Learning)
- GlobalCampus Academic Policies & Procedures
- GlobalCampus Faculty Standards, Hiring & Policies and Procedures
- University of Record and CEA Coordination

Bannister said, "I have been singularly impressed by the executive commitment to academic quality enhancement at CEA. Building on a period of unprecedented growth, CEO Brian Boubek has positioned CEA as an industry-leading organization. I believe my background in higher education program development, faculty recruitment and development as well as education abroad should complement CEA's entrepreneurial culture well. I look forward especially to strengthening CEA's links to major universities in the U.S. and overseas, and to engaging in the creation of a network of Global Campuses. This new project is attractive both because of its vision and its challenges. The opportunity to help lay the groundwork for this new initiative, knowing it has the funding and support it needs, is rare in higher education."

Entering its tenth year in the field, CEA has experienced remarkable growth. Its study abroad programs in Barcelona alone have doubled in student enrollment in the past year. This success has positioned CEA with the network and resources to expand its offerings in dynamic and creative new ways offering college students more choices in overseas study programs.
