Translation Plus, Inc., a full-service translation company headquartered in Hackensack, NJ, together with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation -- New Jersey Health Initiatives supported the Medical Interpreter Project at the UMDNJ - Center for Multicultural Healthcare Communication. This program, created and coordinated by Dr. Debbie Salas-Lopez, complements the cultural competency initiatives underway at the medical school.

The program was launched to ensure that University Hospital patients have equitable and quality access to healthcare services by having trained medical interpreters available to individuals with limited English proficiency. As a result of this initial effort, a total of 32 Medical Interpreters Volunteers graduated at the Center for Multicultural Healthcare Communication Programs Graduation Ceremony. "We are very honored to be able to collaborate with such a talented, committed and caring group of individuals who made this important program possible," said Elisabete Miranda, President of Translation Plus. "We look forward to continue supporting this particular initiative, and also sharing our foreign language and cultural consulting expertise."
