"Fiscal Disobedience (a Manual for Happiness)" Calls for Open Revolt Against U.S. Government

"Fiscal Disobedience", the first electropoetic text, to be published as a pamphlet in February 2007; until then, www.fiscaldisobedience.org, the only circular sight on the web, serves as a preview to the completed work. The pamphlet can be pre-ordered at a sharp discount (50% off) up till March, when it will begin shipping. (Purchases made on December 21st qualify for a free holyday cheer.)

Delray Beach, FL (PRWEB) November 20, 2006 -- Late into the night and urly this mourn, a sublime whine was heard--round the world!--and "Fiscal Disobedience (a manual for happiness)" was born, the first electropoetic text appearing, wailing, on the Whorled Wide Web. Published in conjunction with The Day of the Dead, the work pretends to end the slumber of the living by calling for an open revolt against the U.S. government. An artist known simply as "Porno, the Vandal" (that's me--I am He) has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

"Fiscal Disobedience" will ultimately be published as a printed pamphlet in February 2007; until then, www.fiscaldisobedience.org serves as a preview to the completed work. The pamphlet can be purchased at a sharp pre-publication discount (50% off) up till March, when it will begin shipping. (Purchases made on December 21st qualify for a free holyday cheer.)

The only circular sight on the Web, "Fiscal Disobedience" is a constellation of indiscrete texts.

Radial Elements:

  • Declaration of Codependence
  • The U.S. Citizen's Constitootion
  • Citysonship and its Discontents*
  • Warrants for your Arrest

Radioactive Core:

  • Critique of Democracy*
  • Revolt
  • Reform

Tangents:

  • Notes
  • Charters of Weedom
  • Postamble

The radial elements expose the citizen's impotence and try to clothe it in updated renditions of broken-down goldun-old oldies. In the center, the "Critique of Democracy (pure and simple)" is modeled on Immanuel Kant's "Critique of Pure Reason". At fiscaldisobedience.org, the critique's table of judgments is available; the full critique will appear in the pamphlet. Likewise, the play "Citysonship and its Discontents" begins online and will be buried in print. (Letters of references too be included in the pamphlet, but never on the Web.)

In addition to finishing off those two documents and commingling them with the rest, the pamphlet will present two new chapters, fresh: 1) a biographical sketch of the author's experience in, under, over and above self-government and 2) an ex-genesis of the argument placing it in historical contexts.

At the heart of the matter, in both pixels and print, "Revolt" proposes taking up alms against the U.S. government: "I, the undersigned, do hereby pledge to withhold payment of taxes until each of my government representatives introduces them self and makes a proper effort to solicit and record my wish regarding every vote they are bound to cast in my name." Amen. Marrying action to words, "Fiscal Disobedience" strives to give citizens what they deserve: legitimate government and representation, at onceness.

Many spirits haunt the work. Henry David Thoreau, Martin Luther King, and Thomas Paine centre and guide it. Emerson can be heard in the background, intoning the words "self-reliance" and "Nature", and Gandhi is pacing in the foreground muttering "satyagraha, satyagraha." Marshall McLuhan, off-stage, spells it out: "electronic interdependence recreates the world in the image of a global village" and "terror is the normal state of any oral society . . . exactly befitting a small world of tribal drums . . ." Kafka escapes arrest but Jesus makes several "appearances".
