This event highlights Sikh culture, heritage, and achievements of Sikhs from around the world such as K.P Singh, Gurinder Chadha, and "Singh Sisters".

Orange, CA (PRWEB) November 16, 2006 -- As a part of its endeavor to spiritually and culturally enrich the lives of community members, the Sikh Center of Orange County (SCOC) will host the Sikh Heritage Evening 2006 on Friday, November 17 at Crowne Plaza in CA.

True to its flavor of highlighting Sikh culture and heritage as well as felicitating its achievements, this year's event will feature a hybrid (live and silent) auction of artworks and original masterpieces by celebrated architectural genius K. P. Singh. The architect, who has carved a niche for himself in the unique pen & ink composite drawings, has till date earned many awards. His distinctive drawings of historic landmarks and sacred sites combine the skills of an architect, historian, educator, and passionate advocate for architectural heritage and cultural preservation.

SCOC also recognizes contributions made to visual arts and films by noted Sikh artists in Hollywood, Gurinder Chadha. The Sikh Heritage Awards will be presented during the evening, followed by a panel discussion that will be graced by the esteemed presence of Gurinder Chadha, director famous for the box-office hit 'Bend it like Beckham'. The festival will showcase her latest movie 'Acting our age'. The Spinning Wheel Film Festival, which will be held on the following day on November 18, 2006, is an extension of SCOC's recognition of Sikh films and their effect on cultural and global issues.

To add to the grand event's euphoria, the Sikh Heritage Evening will also feature performances by the talented 'Singh Sisters' - budding artists from Australia who will enliven the event by enchanting the audience with a mix of hip-hop rhythms and Punjabi folk songs. The sisters, who happen to be the daughters of renowned musician Dya Singh, have started being recognized as a modern "fusion east-west" singer and songwriter duo. The accompanying foot-tapping dance performances are bound to electrify the evening. What will add to this is an invigorating bhangra performance by the troupe of Guru Nanak Children's Academy.

The stage is all set and curtains are waiting to open up for the grandest show for Sikh community in North America - the Sikh Heritage Evening 2006!
