Author Wendy Stofan Halley writes of her extraordinary nine-month undertaking to help a young comatose man in the recently released "Slaying the Mouse: A True Story of Healing in the Spiritual Realms."

In the new book, Ms. Halley, a Vermont-based psychotherapist and shamanic healer, tells the compelling story of 19-year-old Jason as he struggles to come to terms with his soul's purpose. While he remained fully alert and impassioned in the 'dreamtime' realm, Jason's unconscious hospital-bound body was inert and unresponsive, leaving his family members desperate for answers. Medicine and science could not explain Jason's circumstances, so his family turned to Wendy Halley for her shamanic outreach. "Slaying the Mouse" tells the story of what went on during the healing journey that followed.

Lewis Mehl-Madrona, M.D., Ph.D., author of "Coyote Medicine," says that "This account of healing in the spiritual realm provides food for thought about our relationships with this dimension and will stimulate important discussion for patients and practitioners alike."

Noted author Robert Moss has given Ms. Halley's account high praise as well. "Slaying the Mouse reads like a fast-paced novel, alternately comic and moving and fantastic, that reminds us that the mind is never confined to the body (except by our illusions) and that in dreaming, we can visit other people and help them to heal," says Moss

Since her journey with Jason, Wendy Halley has worked with numerous clients from around the country in her shamanic practice. In addition to her ongoing work as a psychotherapist, Wendy is an adjunct professor in the Psychology Department of the Community College of Vermont. She frequently conducts trainings and workshops on a variety of topics related to her indigenous healing practice, and is completing her next publication, a step-by-step 'conscious dreaming' workbook.

Ms Halley wrote "Slaying the Mouse" to demonstrate the potential of this ancient healing approach. "I'm hoping that this book will leave readers wondering about the nature of reality," says Ms. Halley. "And in doing so, maybe plant a few seeds of possibility."
