Ladies and Gentlemen, Start Your Engines; The Gift-Giving Season is Almost Here
While many shoppers will still stampede through the crowded malls, face long lines, and miss parking spaces, more and more consumers are becoming comfortable shopping online.
Parkland, FL (PRWEB) November 18, 2006 -- Besides the obvious benefits of skipping the mall this year, the Internet gives shoppers an opportunity to purchase unique gifts that may or may not be found or in stock at retail stores.
Following the business model of retail stores, here are a handful of websites that are trying to edge out the competition this holiday season by debuting new product lines, offering special deals, and cost-effective shipping methods to online consumers.
The Retro Baby
Baby clothing is big business and one site that seems to know this niche is TheRetroBaby.com. Per the owners of this baby clothing e-tailer, sales of their custom baby and toddler onesies and t-shirts have increased by 200% since last year. And in order to stay ahead of the online competition, new products have to be added to the site on a constant basis. In addition to carrying a wide range of sayings such as "Babies are the New Black" and "Party at My Crib", they have recently launched their own character for little boys called "Retro Boy". Retro Boy could be called the new Calvin and Hobbes. The character was created as a way for little boys to represent the memories their parents have of the 80's. Some of the designs include Retro Boy listening to a ghetto boom box, riding a Big Wheel, and the Retro Boy being an old school style DJ.
eBeanstalk
eBeanstalk.com is a fairly new website that has developed a program which sends out expert-selected toys matched to a baby/child's development. The toys are packaged into a GIFT SERIES, where every three months a new gift arrives that is perfectly suited for the appropriate stage of a child's development from 0-5 years old. In addition to recently releasing their Newborn gift series, they are offering a free one-year subscription to Parenting Magazine with every purchase.
Red Envelope
RedEnvelope.com is commonly seen on "Best of the Web" lists for their unique assortment of gifts for every occasion and recipient. Since this website is more gift-driven, they seem to offer services geared to the gift-giver. For those shoppers who like to shop early but don't want the gift to arrive early, Redenvelope.com has launched a "Holiday Shop Now, Ship Later service". When a shopper purchases a gift between now and December 6th, the product will arrive at the recipient's address between December 18 and December 22. Red Envelope is also offering free shipping on products from their "Favorite Holiday Gift Collection".
Signature Days
The concept behind SignatureDays.com is to give "experiences" as gifts. Rather then purchasing a tangible product, consumers can purchase a memorable experience. They offer 1,500 experiences including Private Golf Lessons, Brunch on a Yacht, Helicopter Tours, and more. This site offers a "Wish List" service. Some people are impossible to buy gifts for. By creating a personalized Wish List, gift-givers can log on to the website and see which present their friend and/or family would like to receive.
This is just a small sample of the shopping websites on the Internet. With the holiday season right around the corner, it might not be a bad idea to get a head start. But wait…what's the rush. With easy shipping features and an abundance of product selection on the web, time is on the side of savvy online shoppers.
