The Incredible Story of One Woman Battling a Rare Disease Released
In One Gift of Grace: My Path Through to the Other Side of Disease, Janet Smith chronicles the changes in her life and in her attitude when she became critically ill.
Rockwood, TN (PRWEB) November 18, 2006 -- When Janet Smith became ill with a rare bone marrow disease, her life turned upside down. She tells how she coped and how the experience changed her in her moving and helpful new memoir, One Gift of Grace: My Path Through to the Other Side of Disease
Sometimes life throws people curves. For veterinarian Janet Smith, that curve was a rare disease called Agnogenic Myeloid Metaplasia, also know as AMM. Suddenly, years of early symptoms during Smith's life made sense, but everything else would never be the same. For the following four years, she bravely battled an illness that was painful and always present, until finally, she received a bone-marrow transplant and started her road toward recovery. Three years after her life saving surgery, she started chronicling the events that had altered her life so drastically, and it was then she began to realize her words and her story could possibly help others going through similar struggles.
In warm, heartfelt prose, Smith details the reactions of friends and family to her illness. She talks about the care she received from her doctor and the compassion she sometimes missed. This is a tremendous book with a triumphant and hopeful message that the critically ill and their families and friends will treasure. Some of the proceeds from this memoir will be donated to research.
