Michigan vs. Ohio State: Troy Smith Needs Big Day to Impress Heisman Trophy Voters

This is the first meeting between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines when both teams had perfect records since 1973.

Miami Beach, FL (PRWEB) November 17, 2006 -- College football betting expert Benton Vale of Point-Spreads.com, the premier provider of sports data, information, and analysis to the betting community, discusses this weekend's marquee college football match up between No. 1 Ohio State vs. No. 2 Michigan with CEO Thomas Jensen in anticipation of Point-Spreads.com's full coverage of College Football Betting for Week 12.

The Point-Spreads.com team lends an insight into what to look out for when researching for college football predictions, as well as where the "public's" money is going when the Ohio State Buckeyes battle the Michigan Wolverines at a sold out Ohio Stadium on Saturday November 18th, 2006. The game will be nationally televised on ABC at 3:30 PM EST.

"The Ohio State Buckeyes are listed as a 7 point favorite as you can see on the Live Odds Board located at http://www.point-spreads.com/ncaaf-point-spreads.html " stated Jensen. "The Buckeyes and Wolverines have never played each other when one team was ranked 1st and the other team ranked 2nd in a historic clash of two college football rivals."

"This is the game the entire college football world has been looking forward to since pre-season when Ohio State was projected to win this years BCS Championship," said Point-Spreads.com football writer Benton Vale. "So much is riding on this one game. The winner gets its ticket punched to the Fiesta Bowl for the BCS Championship Game in Glendale, Arizona and the loser gets the Rose Bowl as the consolation prize. You know this game is big when the loser gets the Rose Bowl."

Both teams are 11-0 on the year and are undefeated in the Big Ten with 7-0 records. Ohio State is coming off a 54-10 drubbing of Northwestern and owns the nation's longest winning streak with 18 consecutive victories. The Buckeyes have won 13 consecutive Big Ten games and are unbeaten in their last 11 home games. While Michigan is coming off a 34-3 winner over Indiana on Saturday and is 4-0 on the road this year.

It will be Senior Day for Ohio State with 19 seniors, 16 of whom are in their fifth year, will be introduced to the Ohio Stadium crowd Saturday and will meet with their families at midfield prior to the game. During the past four year, this class has a combined record of 40-8, will have played in four bowl games, including three BCS games, and has shared one Big Ten Conference Title.

Jensen concluded, "If Ohio State wins it will be their first outright Big Ten Conference title in 22 years. Head Coach Jim Tressel is 4-1 against Lloyd Carr and the Michigan Wolverines. Troy Smith is 24-2 as a starting quarterback and is 2-0 in the Michigan vs. Ohio State rivalry. With Smith looking to impress Heisman voters and the front runner to win the Heisman Trophy, I expect him to have a big day for the Buckeyes."
