(PRWEB) November 19, 2006 -- A Thin Place, author Charlotte Fielden's first collection of short stories takes her readers on journeys through other-worldly dimensions into physical and emotional landscapes where many readers have not even begun to travel. Editor Michael Valpy says this in the Globe and Mail: "… There is a thin place where the veil between the ordinary world and the Other World is reduced to transparent gossamer … the soul awakens, imagination is captivated, and raw, naked, universal truth is found…"
Fielden's stories open the mind, touch the heart, and reach the soul. They combine the real with the surreal -- where hate can become demonic, where the day-to-day can become miraculous, and where love can transform itself into a mystical union. Her characters are drawn from life -- often finding themselves in situations that can lead to outrageous and unforeseen outcomes. John Robert Colombo, the noted Canadian author and anthologist, says this about A Thin Place: "An accomplished piece of fiction, or should I say, 10 pieces of fiction. No, I was right the first time: the collection amounts to more than the sum of its parts.''
Charlotte Fielden is an accomplished and prolific writer -- and this is among the most accomplished of her works. A Thin Place follows on the enormously successful heels of works such as Messages Like Memories (2005); Palatine Hill (2004); One Crowded Hour (1976); and Crying as She Ran (1970). The author is currently working on a stage adaptation of her historical novel Palatine Hill. An Age Without A Name, sequel to Messages Like Memories and the final book in the Weil Trilogy, has been edited, and is scheduled to be released next fall. Her new play, Saving Angel, will be published this coming year after its first staged reading this past summer in Toronto following by three more autumn readings in London, England. Fielden's stories, poetry, and articles have been included in numerous highly regarded anthologies and publications.
