FameCast Launched as First Online Contest and Social Networking Platform to Find Best New Artists
FameCast contestants compete to win a cash prize of $10,000 and worldwide exposure. Social networking platform to connect artists, fans, talent agents & producers alike. FameCast 5 finalist shows to air live during SXSW in Austin, TX.
Austin, TX (Billboard Publicity Wire/PRWEB ) November 21, 2006 -- FameCast, the first online contest designed to find America's best new artists, today officially launched a nationwide contest to discover the next big music and comedy stars. FameCast will showcase legitimate artists who have yet to be discovered and whom the audience deems to be worthy of stardom. The online contest and community will provide contestants the ability to connect with and grow a national audience and compete to become a FameCast Fenom - a prize worth $10,000 and global exposure.
"Why wouldn't we join FameCast? It gives us another way to reach and interact with our current fans but it gives us the best shot at growing our fan base, faster and easier than we ever could elsewhere. And hell, it's free. And we could really use ten grand!" said Carrie Clarke of The Hit Space, an alternative pop band in Austin, TX. "FameCast also puts everyone on a level playing field. I mean, we'll be on the largest stage in the world, the Web, and now we can let our talent speak for itself - finally. And we think we have a real shot at it. We hope to make the FameCast Five. At least."
Starting today, artists can submit their performance videos to compete for fame and a small fortune on six virtual Stages, classified by genre, including Rock, Pop, R&B, Country, Hip Hop, and Comedy, with more to follow. The final five contestants from each Stage will be flown on location in Austin, TX to compete in a live show during SXSW the week of March 12, 2007. The shows will be Webcast for viewers to watch and select the ultimate FameCast winners that same week. Participants only have until January 8, 2007 to submit, so visit FameCast.net today and submit your performance if you have what it takes to be the next big star.
"FameCast crosses user generated content, think YouTube, with weekly talent discovery shows, like American Idol," said Mark McGarrah of McGarrah/Jessee Advertising Agency. "Based on the popular culture of both of these formats, it seems like a well executed Web version makes a lot of sense for artists, viewers and advertisers alike. At the end of the day, FameCast is an open stage where unknown artists can be discovered and achieve the American dream."
FameCast's mission is to find artists that are serious about their craft and are ready to take their art to the next level. The FameCast artist discovery and entertainment platform is the first combination of user created content and social networking with an interactive talent contest format. Artists no longer have to travel to compete or sit in casting call lines, or invest huge resources to rise to the top. The FameCast contest promises to be the most exciting gig yet, as artists showcase their talent in an effort to advance to stardom. Once voting starts on Janaury 8, 2007, the FameCast audience is provided unprecedented access and opportunity to see a wide array of talented new performers, and the ability to help their favorites through a high-stakes contest, tracking results all the way.
"Lack of exposure is what keeps some of the most promising artists in the shadows. FameCast removes the physical barriers to talent discovery and aims to shine the spotlight on those that have what it takes, but have lacked the breaks," said Kent Savage, Founder and CEO of FameCast. "Talk about the ultimate in user generated content, FameCast exists to serve the talent industry, the artists themselves, and the fans voting for who's worthy of being called the best. On FameCast, the audience truly decides who rises to the top, democratizing the talent industry - for the people, by the people."
The FameCast contest is open to contestants 18 years of age or older. Members under the age of 18 must have parental consent before joining FameCast, and children under the age of 13 may not join FameCast.
