Colorado Historic Preservation Conference Early-Bird Registration Ends December 20
10th Annual Historic Preservation Conference scheduled for February, '07.
Denver, CO (PRWEB) November 21, 2006 -- Early-bird registration for Colorado Preservation Inc.'s annual Saving Places conference is available until December 20 at just $135. After December 21 registration will increase to $165. Saving Places 2007: Planning, Growth and Preservation will take place at the historic 1770 Sherman Street Event Complex in downtown Denver, Feb. 7-9, 2007.
The largest statewide historic preservation conference in the country, Saving Places 2007 is expected to attract more than 1,200 attendees and includes the announcement of Colorado's 2007 Most Endangered Places, Preserve America communities, the Governor's Award for Historic Preservation and the Colorado Historical Society's Stephen Hart awards.
The 2007 program celebrates the 10th anniversary of the conference and features the premier of the movie "Heart of the Queen." The one-hour documentary, produced by Havey Productions, presents a lively overview of downtown Denver and the events that helped form this historically rich urban center.
The conference features workshops, educational sessions, general sessions and tours, presented by nationally prominent speakers profiling current trends, technologies, programs, and projects that address not just buildings, but landscapes, communities, archaeological resources, and financial and management tools.
Invited speakers include: urbanist Anthony Tung, author, Preserving the World's Greatest Cities; U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard; Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper; Peter Park, Denver city planner; Will Rogers, president, Trust for Public Land; Richard Celeste, president, Colorado College; Philip Grone, deputy under-secretary, US Department of Defense, and more than 140 preservation experts.
Attendees include preservationists, architects, planners, developers, craftsmen, landscape architects, contractors, engineers, landmark commissioners, cultural resource managers, government officials, historians, archaeologists, owners of historic buildings, real estate professionals, students, educators and community leaders.

Colorado Preservation, Inc., was founded in 1984 to promote historic preservation in Colorado by providing information, education, training, expertise and advocacy to Colorado communities. Funded through memberships, private donations, event proceeds and grants, Colorado Preservation, Inc administers Colorado's Most Endangered Places Program, presents the annual Saving Places Conference, hosts the Dana Crawford Awards, , which recognizes excellence in historic preservation, maintains an active presence in the state legislature and conducts surveys of historic areas. Colorado Preservation, Inc. assists in grant administration, project management and undertakes rehabilitation and adaptive use projects that serve as models for preservation statewide.
