LA Pop Art Makes its Way into Maxim Magazine's List of 100 Ways to Rock the Holidays

LA Pop Art, the place where original posters mix the visual images of popular icons with the language that made them famous creating unique works of art, has made the pages of Maxim Magazine's List of 100 ways to Rock The Holidays for 2006.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 23, 2006 -- LA Pop Art, the place where original posters mix the visual images of popular icons with the language that made them famous creating unique works of art, has made the pages of Maxim Magazine's List of 100 ways to Rock The Holidays for 2006.

The December issue, which lists only four online retail stores where readers should "ditch the bricks - everything cool is online," includes LA Pop Art as the place that "elevates the movie poster with micrography - a fancy way of saying that they use words to make an image, like in this Scarface poster featuring the movie's entire script. That's gangster."

"I want to thank Maxim for the honor of being included in their Holiday issue. The response has been amazing," says Joseph Leibovic, founder of LA Pop Art.

Los Angeles Pop Art introduced one of the hottest pieces of Scarface merchandise to hit the market this holiday season. The collection of Scarface posters are images of Al Pacino's classic character Tony Montana created using all the words from the film. The words themselves are bent and construed to make up this masterpiece. This artwork is truly interactive as every time you look at it, you are surly going to find a new great line of dialogue. An additional Scarface poster was presented with Scarface: the World Is Yours video game, which came out in October to record sales. "LA Pop Art was contacted by Vivendi to create some original artwork as a gift for the true diehard fans, we jumped at opportunity." Fans who pre- ordered the game at participating retailers received a 24" x 30" Scarface print created by L.A. Pop Art, depicting an iconic film scene created out of the text of the original motion picture script. The poster is currently not for sale, and was made available only through the pre-order promotion.

Just in time for one of the biggest theatrical movie releases of the year, LA Pop Art is honored to be working with MGM Studios and Sylvester Stallone in celebration of the 30th anniversary of one of the greatest films and franchises in movie making history - Rocky. This amazing tribute to Rocky was created by taking the script from this Oscar winning Best Picture and recreating "THE" inspirational climax of the film.

Other licenses from LA Pop Art include Bob Marley, Reservoir Dogs, Che Guevara, as well as some classic Americana icons such as Ronald Reagan (which has become part of the Official Presidential Collection of the Reagan Library), the American Flag, and a very special tribute to the loved ones we lost in the World Trade Center.

About LA POP ART:

Los Angeles Pop Art uses a technique of art known as Micrography to create its images. Equally as unique as the artwork itself - is the amazing story of where it comes from and how it has been used over the years. Los Angeles Pop Art is proud to be the first and only company creating and adapting this style of art to the Pop Art environment. Micrography, the scribal practice of employing minuscule script to create abstract shapes or figurative designs, is an art form that has been used by Jews for over a millennium. This intricate decorative technique was first practiced in Egypt and the Land of Israel in the tenth century. Micrography developed within the Islamic cultural milieu in which the written word was frequently transformed into elaborate decorative patterns. This abstract ornamentation, emphasized in Islamic art, strongly influenced the artistic creations of the Jews living in many Near Eastern countries.
