The SCOOTER Store Brings Gift of Mobility To Oklahoma City Woman
Nation's leading provider of power wheelchairs and scooters offers assistance.
Oklahoma City, OK (PRWEB) November 22, 2006 -- As part of its Gift of Mobility program, The SCOOTER Store presented an Aspire power wheelchair to Elsie Richardson, 77, of Oklahoma City, who is suffering from a mobility-related disability. The SCOOTER Store worked with her Pastor, Charlie O'Daniel and the Marenatha Baptist Church of Western Oaks, to provide mobility assistance to Ms. Richardson.
The SCOOTER Store, the nation's leading provider of power wheelchairs and scooters, created the Gift of Mobility program in December, 2002, as a reflection of the company's commitment to, "Always Do the Right Thing!" Since its inception, the international outreach program has donated more than $200,000 per year in power wheelchairs and scooters, and manual wheelchairs to community service organizations enabling them to provide freedom, independence and personal integrity to those with limited mobility.
"This program is an excellent example of The SCOOTER Store philosophy and we are proud to be able to touch so many lives through these fine community organizations," said Doug Harrison, the company's Chief Executive Office, who founded the company with his wife, Susanna Harrison, because they wanted to reach out and help others. "We are honored to be able to partner with Pastor O'Daniel and the Marenatha Baptist Church and help Elsie regain her mobility."
Other charitable groups that have participated in the Gift of Mobility program include the American Red Cross, Hospice, Volunteers of America and the National Chronic Pain Society, as well as a host of churches, museums and foundations.
The SCOOTER Store operates a network of retail stores from coast-to-coast, including Oklahoma City. Every day, employees are dedicated to helping others achieve freedom and independence. The SCOOTER Store, accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) was named to FORTUNE magazine's 2004 "Top 100 Companies to Work For" list.
