Inspiring Stories Tell Teenagers that Gangs Are Not the Answer

Author Angela Clarke shows kids alternatives to bullying and gangs in her debut novel, "Band Together---Spring Jammin'," which leads a series of eleven books.

Barrie, Canada (PRWEB) November 24, 2006 -- Every adult has survived being a teenager, having dealt with his or her own unique set of experiences and circumstances. Angela Clarke has invited readers to become involved with a group of very diverse teenage personalities as they 'band together' through their mutual love of music in her new series "Band Together." As their journey to becoming a rock band progresses, they live out the excitement of the highs, the challenges of the lows, and the depths of day-to-day life that make their teenage years truly unforgettable.

The authenticity of this series is by no means an accident. Clarke became passionately involved with her research after meeting foster children and survivors of child abuse. She interviewed social workers, drug addicts, athletes, addiction counselors, comedians, and people of all walks of life. Combined with many of her own life experiences, and those she interviewed, Clarke has ingeniously weaved reality with humor into her 10-novel series accurately revealing the lives of teens today.

In Clarke's debut, "Spring Jammin'," street-fighter Max Coburn proves that joining a gang isn't the answer to bullying. Clarke continues the series with "Summer Fireworks," where the friends draw inspiration from a stranger on life-support to pay their court fines. "Things Fall Apart" when they find themselves dealing with drugs and peer pressure. The series leads to "Winter X-Tremes," where each character has to come face to face with his or her own personal struggle. Max isn't ready to make a major decision about the band he's always dreamed of in "Season of Challenge."

Seven years later, readers rejoin the group of friends in another series of six where they discover new lifestyles; now adults they embark on several challenging and frightening experiences during their new careers. Once again the friends 'band together' when a new problem occurs and they all have to make life-changing decisions.
