When the prospective home buyer calls the 800 number in front of the home for sale, they are prompted to enter a code on the sign which is unique to that home. Next they are asked to opt-in to receive property information including pictures, and follow up "alert" text messages from the agent; such as, price reductions and open house information. The agent in turn immediately receives the inquirer's cell number by text message and online. "We're very careful to ask consumers to opt-in for information so there are no problems with Do Not Call lists," said Jim Lofton, creator of Mobile Price Check. "Consumers can also opt-out of all future contact by the agent at any time by clicking a link in the text messages."
The real estate agent can send multiple text messages by going online, typing the message in a text box, and sending the message to all who have inquired on a particular property instantly. "An agent can go online at 11am and in seconds send a text message alert announcing a 1pm open house to multiple buyers who have inquired about that home," Lofton said.
