Members of the NC Coalition for Adoption Reform will host a Cape Fear Regional Forum. A discussion of upcoming legislation in 2007 giving adult adoptees and lineal descendants of deceased adoptees access to the original birth certificate.
Fayetteville, North Carolina (PRWEB) November 24, 2006 -- On Sunday December 10th from 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm the NC Coalition for Adoption Reform (NCCAR) will host a Cape Fear Regional Forum in regards to legislation coming to the General Assembly in January of 2007. The forum will be held at the Cumberland County Public Library and Information Center in the Pate Room in downtown Fayetteville at 300 Maiden Lane.
This legislation will allow an adult adoptee or the lineal descendant of a deceased adoptee access to the adopted person's original birth certificate. At this forum there will be a showing of the documentary "Vital Records" by Jean Strauss. This is a documentary which was made to assist legislators and members of the general public in understanding the debate on any legislation allowing adopted adults access to their original birth certificates.
After viewing the documentary, members of NCCAR will discuss with audience members the purpose of this legislation, what the legislation will do for and provide to members of the adoption triad, concluding with a question and answer session.
An open invitation to this forum is extended to all members of the adoption triad, adoption related professionals, legal professionals who deal in adoption along with all members of the public who have any questions or concerns regarding this type of legislation.
