Rocker Says "Hunting is Not a Sport, It's a Lifestyle"

Eric Adams of rock band Manowar talks about the misconceptions of hunting and the conservation element of the hunting lifestyle.

(PRWEB) November 26, 2006 -- Eric Adams says those who cannot understand the passion hunters have for hitting the field are missing the big picture.

"Hunting is not a sport, it's a lifestyle. Besides my musical career, everything I do is geared toward hunting from pre-season scouting to preparing a nice venison roast. It's all about hunting, particularly bowhunting for me."

Adams is best known to the world for being the singer and founding member of heavy metal giants Manowar, but earlier this year he released a DVD called "Wild Life and Wild Times" that center on his wild lifestyle.

"I have certainly seen my share of wild times out on the road, but in reality the true wildness is what I see from the tree stand. It's awesome playing to 20,000 screaming fans but it's just as awesome to come to full draw on a wild turkey or big, wary northern whitetail buck."

Adam's video partner Chester Moore agrees. The multiple award-winning outdoor writer and author of five hunting and fishing books, including "Flounder Fever" and the forthcoming "Texas Waterfowl" agrees.

"There is purity about hunting and fishing that can be traced back to man's quest for survival. In the Moore household we eat wild game or wild caught fish at least five nights a week and it has made us healthier due to the nutritional benefits of truly natural food and it has allowed us to celebrate success in the field so it feeds the spirit as well," Moore said.

"Wild Life and Wild Times" features hunting and fishing throughout the United States and it focuses on the conservation efforts that have kept populations of fish and game thriving despite increased urbanization.

"The conservation element is something Eric and I are very proud of with this DVD. The fact we were able to hunt an American bison and take home that meat is something we will never forget. I mean just 100 years ago they were nearly extinct but now they are thriving. Without the passion and foresight of hunters that would not have been possible," Moore said.

"Somehow we were able to make a very entertaining video project and maintain an educational value which is something that is not easy to do. However, any time you step into the woods you become a student of the wild and I think that shines through on "Wild Life and Wild Time," Adams said.
