Canadian University Students Publish Short Fiction Collection

The book from Ottawa students Cavan Terrill and G.R.C. Lewis, Goodbye, Darwin, is a collection of twelve exciting new science fiction stories.

Ottawa, Canada (PRWEB) November 27, 2006 -- After releasing his own novel in 2005, University of Ottawa student Cavan Terrill decided to switch gears, putting down his pen to try on the editor's hat. "Getting short fiction published these days isn't easy," he says. "It was important to me to provide others with an avenue to get their work into print."

Terrill, an English Honours student, was joined by Carleton University student and fellow Ottawa resident G.R.C. Lewis, who is currently pursuing a double major in English and Law.

The search for the perfect mix of stories was a long one, as the two editors began reading submissions in July 2005 and weren't satisfied that they'd come up with the right combination until over a year later. "It was a long journey, but a rewarding one," says Terrill. "We took the time to get things right."

The two editors published the book through Apodis Publishing, a company founded by Terrill in March of 2005. Apodis uses a print-on-demand printing model, meaning there is no initial run for titles. Instead, copies of the book are printed off as they ordered.

The subjects of the stories in the book run the gamut; from time travel, alien artifacts, and artificial intelligence to troubled teens, struggling writers and the social consequences of the science vs. religion debate.

Goodbye, Darwin is available online at Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Additionally, free electronic copies of the book can be downloaded at the publisher's website (www.apodispublishing.com)under a Creative Commons license.
