FaithWriters.com Provides Inspiration at Your Fingertips
FaithWriters.com, the premier site for Christian writers, has released its ninth anthology, "FaithWriters--Inspiration at Your Fingertips."
Livonia, MI (PRWEB) November 29, 2006 -- When a writer sits down to create, they may be inspired at their keyboard, but very few, if any, have ever been inspired by their keyboard. That was, until FaithWriters.com chose something as ordinary as a computer keyboard for the theme of their weekly Writing Challenge, and their ninth anthology, "Inspiration at Your Fingertips," is the very surprising result.
FaithWriters.com Writing Challenge Coordinator, Deborah Porter, said that when longtime FaithWriters member, Dave Wagner, suggested the Keyboard theme for the weekly Writing Challenge, her immediate reaction was that it just wouldn't work.
"My first thought was, 'How on earth can we make an inspirational book about a keyboard?'" she admitted. "But then, I looked down at my hands and started reading some of the words on my own well-worn keyboard, and I knew, straight away, that we were onto a winner--and I definitely wasn't disappointed."
For ten weeks, members of FaithWriters.com were invited to write about such broad topics as "Home," "Help," "Escape," "Lock," and even "Space," without knowing that the theme tying these topics together was something as simple as a computer keyboard. This allowed the writers plenty of room to let their imaginations and creativity run wild. The result is an exciting and inspirational collection of writing that will take the reader by surprise.
FaithWriters--Inspiration at Your Fingertips (ISBN: 1414108303, Pleasant Word, 2006, $17.99) is a collection of 80 award winning inspirational, encouraging, and entertaining messages by over 50 of the very best Christian authors from the FaithWriters.com Writing Challenge--including the FaithWriters' Best of the Best award winner for 2006: "The Heart of Lucinda Druell" by Kenn Allan.
The weekly Writing Challenge has rapidly grown from its humble, member-initiated beginnings in 2003, to what it is today--a very popular contest for Christian writers, with the best entries each week being published in the quarterly anthologies, such as "Inspiration at Your Fingertips."
"The Writing Challenge provides unparalleled opportunities for new Christian writers to hone their skills, receive feedback from their peers, and possibly even see their work published," Mrs. Porter explained. "'Inspiration at Your Fingertips' is a wonderful mix of favorite authors from previous anthologies, together with many brand new and exciting writers."
Dara Lowe and Rachel Rudd are two FaithWriters.com members who are being published for the first time in the "Inspiration at Your Fingertips" anthology.
"I must admit, to see my name and my story in print is incredibly exciting," Ms. Lowe said. "The Writing Challenge has been a great way for me to open up and let go of some of my self-consciousness about my writing ability. Being published is an author's dream."
Rachel Rudd shared Ms. Lowe's excitement. "Having my work published in this book means that I am actually a writer. I am blessed with the privilege of sharing words with others and, hopefully, affecting their lives. It is not only a confirmation of myself as a writer, but it is also a reminder of why God wants me to write."
"Inspiration at Your Fingertips" is, quite possibly, the quirkiest of all the FaithWriters' anthologies to date, but readers will also find it a very satisfying, encouraging and delightful selection of stories and poems for their enjoyment.
