Meridix Creative, Inc. has added new text messaging capabilities to its Meridix Broadcast Network, allowing fans, listeners, and affiliates to automatically receive game scores and event notifications via any mobile phone or cellular device. The new capabilities allow broadcasters and organizations to deliver their scores, news, and content to fans or affiliates anywhere, even if they are away from a computer.

To receive messages, fans and affiliates simply create a free account which allows them to customize the organizations and teams they wish to receive text messages updates from. Users can also specify which specific event types (football, basketball, baseball, etc.) or teams they would like to receive updates about. As live events and scores are normally published on the Meridix Network, text updates are automatically sent to the correct individuals. In addition, users have the ability to sign up for text message notifications across the Meridix Network, such as directly from LiveID pages, live event windows, account pages, and other areas.

Having users customize their own text messages and notifications eliminates the need for organizations and schools to maintain delivery lists. Using their accounts, users can administer their phone number, carrier information, desired teams and organizations, and turn messaging on and off at any time. The system continues to reduce work for broadcasters, schools, and organizations by automatically sending the messages to all applicable recipients as they execute normal activities on the network. Broadcasters and organizations simply create live broadcasts, publish scores, publish schedules, and certify events as they normally do, and the system automatically sends messages at the appropriate times.

While most of the new text messaging functions are automatic, organizations also have the ability to manually send important messages to their fans and affiliates. Using a specially designed console, broadcasters and organizations can send out text messages of schedule changes, postponements, notable or major news, important reminders, school closings, or other significant events. After entering the text, a single click will deliver the message to all fans, listeners, and affiliates who elected to receive messages from that organization.
