Mountain View, CA (PRWEB) December 1, 2006
Tiny Prints, Inc. (http://www.tinyprints.com), a leading online consortium managing four retail brands that offer birth announcements, wedding invitations, holiday photo cards and other personalized stationery, announced that before its fiscal year ending October 31, the company made a philanthropic contribution of $25,000 to multiple children's charity causes.
"In living up to our commitment to our global and local communities, which is a core pillar of our mission statement, Tiny Prints is thrilled to be able to make a difference in four causes we feel strongly about," stated Laura Ching, VP of Marketing. "While we always are looking for opportunities to donate our time, as we approached our fiscal year end we determined that the company was in a position to make a significant financial contribution."
Though only a 2-year-old company, Tiny Prints, Inc. has made financial contributions in each of its two fiscal years, 2006 being the most significant to date. The four organizations the company decided to back this year are Oprah's Angel Network, World Vision, Children's Wish Foundation International and Career Closet.
"In keeping with our theme of think globally, act locally, we chose four organizations that best fit that description," Ching added. "We are all big fans of Oprah and the philanthropic work she does, and so we chose the Oprah's Angel Network as one of our national causes."
World Vision was chosen as the global cause because of its commitment to children and impoverished families all over the world. Nathalie Yan, a committee member on the Tiny Prints, Inc. Philanthropy committee made the decision to fund World Vision. Yan noted, "Based on research of the organization, its operating history and the focus on children, we decided World Vision's commitment is in line with our commitment. Plus we had a great time passing around the World Vision catalog to all of the employees of the company who each used a portion of the funds to select specific items they felt strongly about -- like a well for clean water in an African village, even a cow!"
Children's Wish Foundation International, based in Atlanta, is an organization chosen by Sean Conklin, Chairman of the Tiny Prints, Inc. Philanthropy committee. Conklin said, "For our second national cause in addition to Oprah's Angel Network, we again focused our attention on children in need. Much like the Make-a-Wish Foundation, we identified the Children's Wish Foundation International as an organization that brings hope to seriously ill children mainly in the US, but including international children."
Lastly, Career Closet is a small organization based in San Jose, near Tiny Prints, Inc. headquarters, that aids single mothers, underprivileged women and battered women, assisting them with returning to the work force. Danielle Meadows, the third member of the Philanthropy committee, describes, "Career Closet has been in existence for 15 years and has aided over 15,000 local women through various contributions and partnerships to help them get back into the job market. Directly, Career Closet collects clothing and other essentials necessary for disadvantaged women to be able to present themselves to potential employers. They also work with various interview and job training organizations to help women in all areas of successfully finding employment."
Dolores Gould, Director of Programs & Operations at Career Closet, made a presentation to Tiny Prints, Inc. and personally accepted a check for over $6,000. Jean Cecil, executive director of Career Closet called to say, "We are thrilled to receive such a generous donation from this young company with its young work force. We admire the fact that Tiny Prints is setting an example for young start-ups to make strong commitments to the community. Career Closet will ensure that this donation is put to good use by purchasing interview clothes for the women that we serve in Silicon Valley and supporting our operating costs."
