Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 4, 2006 -- The 14th Annual Veterans Holiday Celebration that took place on Sunday, December 3, 2006 was proclaimed "a huge success" by "honoring over 2,800 US Armed Service Veterans and Active personnel and their families" on the grounds of the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration Facility in Brentwood, CA. Surpassing their goal of feeding and entertaining 2,000 Veterans, and Active Service Personnel & their families, event organizer, Barry Gershenson of Mens Division International, proclaimed this years' event "an overwhelming huge success!" Entertainment was provided throughout the day featuring Curtis Smooth, Skies & Shadows, the swing band, The Hollywood Combo, the soultry sounds of Kim Mackaye, Fleetwood Mac tribute band, Bella Donna, The New Directions Choir, and "returning for the eighth year in a row Jim Belushi and The Sacred Hearts Band".
The annual celebration for Veterans offered the opportunity for the Southern California community to honor and thank the veterans and active service personnel who have served our country during war and peace. Every year a mega "buffet style" dinner is prepared and donated by area restaurants and volunteers and served under a huge tent to guests, culminating in a meal fit for kings. For many in attendance, it is the highlight of their year.
Los Angeles Councilmember from the 11th District, Bill Rosendahl was also on hand to thank the Veterans and service personnel who were in attendance who have given so much of their lives for our country. As a Vietnam Veteran, Rosendahl honored those in attendance with an inspiring speech prior to introducing Jim Belushi and The Sacred Hearts Band.
The Annual Veteran's Holiday Celebration is free to all Veterans, Active Service Personnel and their families. Public, private and corporate donations are needed to make this event a success. "Every penny of every dollar raised is given back to the Veterans and all donations are tax deductible".
The event is being sponsored entirely by volunteers and supported by donations from the public. The festivities are organized and produced by Men's Division International and The Family of Women South West Region and The VA GLA Voluntary Service.
