This new uni/cluster version includes among other things a new management and configuration tool. Continuent uni/cluster for PostgreSQL also now supports new PostgreSQL 8.2.

Continuent uni/cluster is the core component for a suite of Continuent software solutions that deliver high-availability and scalability clustering for virtually any database application.

The newest releases of Continuent uni/cluster for MySQL® and Continuent uni/cluster for PostgreSQL provide the highest level of availability and scalability for MySQL and PostgreSQL respectively.

Continuent uni/cluster offers a multi-master approach to database replication. Data is committed and available to all database serves in the cluster simultaneously, effectively eliminating data latency. The elimination of data latency also allows Continuent uni/cluster to offer more effective scalability through load balancing because any database server can be used to process user queries.

"Continuent provides business continuity in the enterprise by guaranteeing the highest level data availability with consistent and predictable response times," said Eero Teerikorpi, CEO of Continuent. "Today guaranteed data availability is the lifeblood of enterprise success. Yet current options provided by open source database vendors are simply too limited to meet the evolving needs of enterprises that are increasingly reliant on data to serve their employees, customers and partners.
