IXEurope Upgrades IP Platform to Reduce Latency and Eliminate Packet Loss Internap's Flow Control Platform Provides Control and Visibility

IXEurope, Europe's specialist datacentre company, has announced that it has enhanced its IXIP™ platform to reduce latency and eliminate packet loss, by installing Internap's (Nasdaq:INAP) Intelligent Internet route optimisation platform on its core infrastructure.

(PRWEB) December 9, 2006 -- IXEurope, Europe's specialist datacentre company, has announced that it has enhanced its IXIP™ platform to reduce latency and eliminate packet loss, by installing Internap's (Nasdaq:INAP) Intelligent Internet route optimisation platform on its core infrastructure.

IXIP is a multi-homed IP network service which provides IXEurope's datacentre customers with a wide choice of networks over a single connection. The high performance service enhancement is possible by using the Internap Flow Control Platform (FCP).

Within the first month of deploying the technology, IXEurope realised an average of 47 percent improvement in packet loss and a 49 percent reduction of network latency. With some routes improving by hundreds of milliseconds, the upgrade has significantly enhanced overall performance of the service.

The platform gives minute by minute visibility into the performance of the IP transit product and intelligently routes traffic by monitoring the Internet, measuring network latency and packet loss over the major carriers and automatically adjusting customer traffic to the optimal path.

The significant improvements in performance and operational efficiency together make a compelling case for what the IXIP platform can deliver across its multi-homed network. Upgrading the IP network service with the Internap Flow Control Platform brings considerable benefits to IXEurope's existing IXIP customer-base of blue-chip and Internet sector users across Europe.

James Kay, CTO of IXEurope customer Surfcontrol On-Demand (LSE: SRF), comments: "For SurfControl's on-demand services, in particular our WebDefense in-the-cloud web security solution, achieving the most reliable and performant network connectivity is vital for service delivery to our customers. We are delighted that IXEurope and Internap have implemented this solution and appreciate its effectiveness."

"Internap has enabled us to instantly improve our IXIP service," comments Andy Castle, Vice President of IT Services at IXEurope. "In contrast to the traditional BGP methods, we are now able to guarantee that our customers will consistency receive an exceptionally high standard of internet performance, with the benefits of a secure, reliable and scaleable foundation."

The sophisticated Internap-boosted infrastructure enables customers to deploy applications faster and better over the Internet. It is of particular value to those customers that have mission critical business processes that depend on the Internet, as well as hosting and Internet-based companies -- particularly as recent research found that shoppers are likely to abandon a website if it takes more than four seconds to load, with 75 percent stating that they would not return.

Daniel Beazer, General Manager UK at Internap Network Services, says "Businesses want to use the internet because it is a remarkably cheap and scalable way of reaching their customers, but they are held back by a fear that the medium is too flaky to deliver applications consistently and reliably. That's where Internap come in."

IXEurope launched IXIP in 2001 to meet the requirements of hosting service providers, managed service providers, application service providers and content providers. The aim was to deliver a resilient internet service that enables customers to move quickly to market and benefit from an industry-leading 99.99 percent service level, sharing the benefits of having multiple networks present at each IXDatacentre.
