LEXINGTON , NC – The holiday season provides ample time to relax with family and friends and Childress Vineyards is introducing a diverse array of wines that are ideal to share at both grand occasions and casual get-togethers.
This week, the winery will release its first sparkling wine called Victory Cuvée. The long-anticipated bubbly from Childress Vineyards is a Blanc de Blancs Brut NV (non-vintage) made in the traditional Méthode Champenoise. It is rich with Bartlett pear and Granny Smith apple flavors and has a creamy, elegant texture for pairing with food.
Adorned with embossed silver metal labels, Victory Cuvée sports a toast from NASCAR team owner Richard Childress “to all your winning moments in life!” It will retail for $24.99.
With the release of Victory Cuvée, Childress becomes one of only two wineries in North Carolina to offer a sparkling wine. Its timing is not only perfect for the busy holiday party season but also in commemoration of the victorious rebound of RCR Racing’s (Richard Childress Racing) NASCAR teams this past season. Two of RCR Racing’s teams finished in the top 10 in the Nextel NASCAR Cup chase this year and another captured the Busch Series Championship this season.
To honor driver Kevin Harvick, the winner of the Busch Series Championship, Childress Vineyards will introduce a Meritage Red Table Wine with a label that resembles the hood of the 21 car that Harvick drove to victory in that series. The orange and blue label also has Harvick’s stylized signature on the front and a list of all the races he won during the year on the back. It will retail for $29.
World renowned artist Bob Timberlake has teamed with Childress Vineyards to develop a special holiday Chardonnay.
Called “Christmas Cardinal,” the 2005 vintage Chardonnay features a label with a colorful red cardinal in a holly bush from Timberlake’s original painting, entitled, “Christmas Cardinal.”
The buttery, oak-kissed Chardonnay is loaded with tropical fruit. It will retail for $19.99. This marks the second time Timberlake and Childress Vineyards have collaborated on special wines in 2006. “Fine Swine Wine” was the other popular offering from the two that was released at the Barbecue Festival of Lexington and sold out within hours.
For the finale to any holiday gathering, Childress Vineyards has “Snow Cap,” a sweet white wine in a petite 375 millimeter bottle. An avid outdoorsman, Richard Childress designed the label himself to resemble snow capped mountains he frequents on hunting trips. The bottle is capped with a hand-dipped, white waxed top.
All of the wines from Childress Vineyards were crafted by award-winning winemaker Mark Friszolowski. They can be purchased at the winery and online at http://www.childressvineyards.com.
