Maio, who is a refreshing and inspiring voice in the increasingly competitive world of tea in the United States, does not represent any suppliers or distributors. She focuses on teaching and demystifying the various characteristics of tea for her audiences by guiding them in lively, entertaining and informative fashion on how to choose, prepare, serve, and enjoy different kinds of tea. Each attendee will go home with a world of knowledge and a sample of tea.

Joyce Maio's tea tastings, or "cuppings," as they are known in the trade, focus as well on the cultural customs associated with serving the beverage. Her seminars are always held at venues that combine specific cultural aspects that complement the teas.

Following her passion for culture, art and tea, Joyce Maio has been a tea consultant and advocate for more than fifteen years. She has traveled extensively in Asia, South America, and the Middle East. Born in Europe, she was raised in diverse cultural traditions where tea drinking was revered as "sacred moments". Joyce, who spent more than a decade in Hollywood as principal of a film production and casting company, has been organizing special cultural and educational events in the arts and is writing a book on tea. She most recently appeared as a spokesperson on CBS Television to bring awareness to national viewers on the cultural & health benefits of tea.
