West Hartford, CT (PRWEB) December 12, 2006
(PR.COM)-- WSI (We Simplify the Internet) is working to bring local families face-to-face with their loved ones anywhere in the world this holiday season using Video Email. WSI Consultants Megan Rakich and Joyce Therieault and their team of sponsors (Home Loan Experts, Radio Disney, University of Hartford and New England Jingles) are offering this free service on Saturday, December 16, 2006 in Glastonbury, Connecticut between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
For U.S. soldiers in Iraq and their families, any kind of communication provides a much needed dose of the home life they miss and a break from the daily realities of war. Now, thanks to video email technology, WSI is offering families in the West Hartford area that have loved ones in Iraq or Afghanistan a video email to communicate messages to their families and friends stationed overseas.
Video Email is unique in that the video file is not sent as an attachment within the email (which can slow email delivery and get accidentally deleted by anti-virus or spam filters). Instead, the video is stored on WSI's secure Video Email server which allows each message to be streamed live from the email.
The video email will give soldiers "virtual bonding" time with their family and friends. WSI will be able capture live moments using a simple video camera and microphone. The soldier will receive a full-color- Internet-ready video in the form of an email.
"We want to give something to those families who have husbands, wives and children that are greatly missed during the holiday season and throughout the year," said WSI Consultant Joyce Therieault.
In a war that is half a world away, a soldier will be able to open his or her email and see their spouse, children, friends and family as if they were watching a live video on television. Husbands and wives can hold up fast-growing newborn babies, blow their soldiers a kiss, or read a letter. Children can show off how much they've grown, show-off a missing tooth or talk about what they learned in school. Parents can send wishes for a safe return.
The video email service is free for families who have loved ones in Iraq. Any soldier or family member can come to:
