As a manufacturer of high-end windows, doors, storefront and entrance systems, TRACO does business with some of the largest dealers and developers in the United States. As the company continued to grow, it determined that its existing integration offering wasn't able to scale with its needs. When the company decided to replace its existing ERP system with an Oracle offering, it took the opportunity to revamp its business-to-business (B2B) integration strategy and start fresh with a next-generation offering.
Replacing its B2B integration offering provided TRACO with the opportunity to increase business efficiencies while also getting rid of the time and expense associated with using a value added network (VAN). Soon TRACO will be connected directly to its largest trading partners.
"With the trajectory TRACO is on, we needed an integration offering that could scale with us as we grew," said Mustan Attaar, CIO for TRACO. "We wanted to increase automation in our order receipt and fulfillment processes, and implementing a new integration offering was a key step in making that happen. We evaluated multiple offerings and selected Boomi based on the technical strength of the product and its affordability. It was also very important to us that Boomi could handle more than just EDI."
In fact, the Boomi offering is used to create a data repository to aggregate information from multiple sources to allow corporate reporting. Due to the company's reporting needs, TRACO's technology evaluation looked at a combination of integration and business intelligence offerings from vendors such as Business Objects, Cognos, Sterling Commerce and Boomi. At the end of the evaluation, TRACO selected Boomi and is now in the process of deploying the Boomi Integration Platform.
Boomi's offering will be used to facilitate business with TRACO's business partners by enabling more than just EDI. For example, the Boomi platform allows TRACO to send shipping notices and acknowledgments as part of the ordering and fulfillment process. TRACO can also easily cancel or update orders within the system. In addition, because Boomi captures all of the information flowing through the transactional system and puts it into a data repository, TRACO will experience increased visibility into the status of corporate-wide sales as well as the performance of individual sales people.
