The League for Innovation in the Community College has invited Capella University faculty chair Jack Krichen to present at the 10th-annual Innovations Conference, which will be held in New Orleans from March 4 to 7. Krichen is a faculty chair in Capella's School of Business and Technology. More than 1,000 teachers, principals, and superintendents have chosen Capella, an accredited online university, to achieve their master's or doctoral degrees.

"This is a significant conference for community college faculty and administrators, so I am looking forward to the opportunity to present my research regarding different learning styles in the online environment," Krichen said.

Krichen's presentation, "Effectively Utilizing Learning Styles in the Online Environment," will address how unique learning styles can be better exercised in an online context by letting students select learning activities that match their styles. Attendees will be encouraged to explore their own learning styles and discuss how they would use this knowledge to direct their learning in an online environment. The presentation is based on the doctoral dissertation Krichen is currently completing at Capella.

Krichen, who lives in Fridley, Minn., manages Capella's specializations in system design and development, network architecture and design, and the general specialization. He has been with the university for six years.
