With Verizon's FiOS, we see opportunities to offer services that change the way we work, the way we play and the way businesses of all sizes access global markets
New York, NY (PRWEB) December 20, 2006
Broadband Properties Magazine announces the first annual Killer App Expo and Conference, scheduled for April 30-May 2, 2007, at the Grand Wayne Convention Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Co-presented by the City of Fort Wayne - one of the most fiber-wired cities in the United States - Killer App Expo & Conference (http://www.killerappexpo.com) will feature the new broadband-enabled applications that are changing the way we live, work and communicate.
Health care, education, public safety, scientific research, business communication, home security, gaming and entertainment are some of the activities that are rapidly being transformed by broadband applications. The Killer App Expo & Conference will feature presentations about, and demonstrations of, applications in these and many other areas.
Mayor Graham Richard of Fort Wayne said, "As a fiber-wired city that is committed to promoting digital innovation and investment, Fort Wayne is a natural choice to host the first Killer App Expo & Conference. We expect to welcome mayors and other public officials from all over the Midwest - as well as real-estate developers, businesses, health care providers, educators and consumers - who want to learn what high-speed broadband access can do for them and their communities."
The Expo & Conference has already drawn support from many organizations concerned with economic development and delivery of public services. Co-hosts include the Fiber-to-the-Home Council, the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns, the National Association of Counties, the National League of Cities, One Economy Corporation and the Public Technology Institute.
Sponsors and exhibitors include major developers and providers of broadband applications and services. Verizon, the Official Corporate Host of Killer App Expo & Conference,, is the only company certified by the Fiber to the Home Council as delivering all-fiber services all the way to homes and businesses. Verizon's FiOS services deliver high-speed Internet and advanced television services to communities in parts of 16 states, including Fort Wayne, Indiana...
"With Verizon's FiOS, we see opportunities to offer services that change the way we work, the way we play and the way businesses of all sizes access global markets," said Eric Cevis, vice president of Verizon Enhanced Communities. "Our all-fiber-optic network has the bandwidth to support the technologies and applications of today as well as those that will be developed in the future. We look forward to showcasing FiOS TV and FiOS Internet at this first-ever event dedicated to exploring the applications that high-speed networks make possible."
Call for Papers. The Killer App Expo & Conference has issued a call for papers inviting application developers, analysts and researchers to present at the conference. Application developers' presentations will include demonstrations of the applications being discussed.
