New Rules are Making it Easier for UK Broadband Switching

According to http://www.ukispreview.co.uk the new rules which have been drawn up from Regulator Ofcom will make it easier for UK broadband users to switch suppliers.

(PRWEB) December 22, 2006 -- According to http://www.ukispreview.co.uk the new rules which have been drawn up from Regulator Ofcom will make it easier for UK broadband users to switch suppliers.

This had been brought forward by the amount of complaints Ofcom had received from a significant minority of people who had tried changing their high speed UK broadband connection.

These complaints are increasing day by day from user's trying to change broadband provider.

In the new rules, it states that the broadband company must provide the customer with a numeric code when they want to change to a different provider, and that broadband firms now have to abided by this.

But there is a down side to this, for example. If your broadband provider goes bust.

Ofcom are still working on this, and think the way forward will be to make the Migration Authorisation Codes (MACs) part of the regulations governing service.

With the new rules changing from the 14th February 2007 this new procedure will then start, and broadband firms will be obliged to issue Migration Authorisation Codes (MACs) free of charge on request.

There are two major bottlenecks when changing broadband provider.

1 - Migration Authorisation Codes (MACs)

2 - Tag on a Line

Tag on a Line has by far the most complaints from switching broadband customers, some where around 50%.

This is when customers cannot sign up for broadband after moving house because the previous resident is still registered to that phone line.

It is thought that issuing a Migration Authorisation Code (MAC) would stop a majority of instances. Which would then make it easier for the customer to change broadband provider. This is what the customer is really looking for says Robert Michael of http://www.ukispreview.co.uk
