Boulder, CO (PRWEB) December 22, 2006
MD-IT, a provider of medical transcription services and software to physicians and ambulatory clinics, announced today that it has added a new regional office in Tampa Bay, Florida with the acquisition of Prescribe, Inc. The former owner received a combination of cash and stock in the transaction and has joined MD-IT's management team as managing director of the Tampa Bay office.
"Joining MD-IT enables me to offer services I couldn't otherwise provide to both clients and employees," said Karen Kasper, who founded Prescribe ten years ago after a career in hospital administration. "Clients will benefit from access to the newest technologies. Employees will benefit both from access to technology and a better benefits package. I am really looking forward to working with the MD-IT team. While I have a lot to offer this company, I have a lot to benefit and learn as well."
"Florida has close to 40,000 practicing physicians, making it the fourth most populous state in the US for medical practices," noted Tom Carson, president and CEO of MD-IT. "We are excited about bringing to this market our unique model of local service and support combined with the technology resources of a national company. Karen Kasper brings a wealth of experience to assist our customers as the industry evolves from paper-based to electronic medical records."
MD-IT specializes in providing transcription services and software to physician and ambulatory clinics. This market is estimated to be $7 billion out of the $10 billion spent annually on medical transcription in the US, with hospitals accounting for the remaining $3 billion. Medical practices have different needs from their transcription providers than do hospitals, such as help incorporating dictation into their electronic medical record systems and learning how to use speech recognition effectively.
MD-IT provides Intelligent Transcription services and software to 1300 physicians and clinicians in 240 medical practices and clinics throughout the United States. The company combines the benefits of local office ownership with the resources of a national company to offer personalized service supported by leading technology. The privately held company is located in Boulder, CO, with regional offices in Colorado, Florida, Maryland and Texas. Additional information can be found at http://www.md-it.com.
