Capella University Federal Program Manager Named Vice President and President Elect of NAIMES

Online university's representative will serve four years with the National Association of Institutions for Military Education Services.

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) December 23, 2006 -- Jim Landerkin, the federal program manager for Capella University (online university, has been named the vice president and president elect for NAIMES, the National Association of Institutions for Military Education Services.

Landerkin has been with Capella since 2002, establishing the university as a military-friendly school with relevant and flexible degree programs. Currently, approximately 15 percent of Capella's students are members of the military. In 2003, Capella became a NAIMES member and has continued to be an active participant. Landerkin was elected to the NAIMES Board of Directors as treasurer in 2004 and has served in that capacity for the last two years.

NAIMES is an association of 22 regionally-accredited colleges and universities that are committed to promoting high-quality educational opportunities for the military community. These 22 schools account for the majority of the Tuition Assistance (TA) dollars that are paid annually by the Department of Defense. NAIMES also provides a forum for higher education institutions to discuss ways in which the Armed Forces Voluntary Education Program (VolEd) can be enhanced. The VolEd managers work with NAIMES to ensure that active-duty servicemembers have access to appropriate degree-based education programs.
