Puddin' River Chococlates, Oregon's Newest Artisan Chocolatier, Changes Ownership
Cutsforth's Thriftway transfers business to Teresa Sasse, former manager and founder.
Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) December 23, 2006 -- Canby chocolate lovers visiting Cutsforth's Thriftway this holiday season can celebrate with Teresa Sasse, the former manager and new owner of Puddin' River Chocolates.
Sasse is realizing her passion to make fine chocolates for connoisseurs in the area. She began making the chocolates four years ago while she was managing the service deli at Cutsforth's.
Sasse prides herself on Puddin' River Chocolates' old-fashioned, handmade candy. The company's signature items include hazelnut toffee, an old Canby family recipe of hazelnut toffee between two layers of chocolate; Mud Balls, balls of dark chocolate ganache, her personal recipe, coated in ground hazelnuts or white chocolate chunks; handmade dairy caramels with or without pecans, and European-style chocolate truffles.
Other items they make are milk or dark chocolate enrobed Oregon hazelnuts, hazelnut "Crispies", peanut clusters, hazelnut shortbread and chocolate bars.
She also takes pride in the high-quality ingredients she uses like local hazelnuts, local wines in wine flavored chocolates, excellent Swiss ingredients and the finest chocolate.
Like all passionate food artisans, she insists on elegant, old world quality. Each batch of chocolates is hand made, carefully inspected (she permits no flaws, not even small air bubbles) and hand packed. The Mud Balls are made to order with a thirty-day shelf life. Chocolate truffles have a ninety-day shelf life.
"I want to share this food art", says Sasse. "When you work hard at something you believe in it always pays you back…not just money but personal fulfillment."
Sasse says future plans include a bigger, better facility in a year. "I also want to expand to other outlets", she says, "but I will not compromise quality".
Puddin' River Chocolates is located at Cutsforth's Thriftway, 225 NE 2nd Street, Canby. You can also contact them at (503)266-2016 or through their website: www.puddinriverchocolates.com.
Cutsforth's Thriftway announced the transfer of ownership effective Monday, November 13, 2006.
