Classic Rock Central Media Launches New Network ClassicRockCentral.com Featuring Exclusive Artist Interviews and Radio On Demand

Network to feature historic artist interviews, vintage network radio programming, streaming radio station, blogs and user generated content dedicated to classic rock.

Ashburn, VA (PRWEB) December 23, 2006 -- Start-up Classic Rock Central Media LLC today announced it has created a new network, ClassicRockCentral.com, to reach the needs of fans of classic rock music in the U.S. and around the world. ClassicRockCentral.com will present original interviews with rock artists and network radio programs and specials which were produced by co-founder Denny Somach and his company DSP. Many of the interviews and radio programs originally aired on network radio during the past 25 years.

ClassicRockCentral.com launched today in beta form, and features interviews with The Beatles, Pete Townshend, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin and members of Pink Floyd. The site is also presenting Radio On Demand with streaming network radio programs such as a four-hour special celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the release of Pink Floyd's historic album Wish You Were Here, which ran on network radio in 2000. Additional programs include Psychedelic Psnack, an episodic program serving flashbacks of music and culture from 1965-1969, which was one of the most popular syndicated radio series from the late '80s/early '90s, with over 1,000 shows airing on rock stations throughout the U.S. Just in time for the holidays, ClassicRockCentral.com will re-present a legendary radio special that originally aired in 2001 titled A John Lennon Christmas, and fans can also enjoy Meet The Beatles ... Again which aired on network radio in 2004 and was produced to celebrate the release of The Beatles Capitol Records Albums Volume 1.

Every week additional artist interviews and Radio On Demand programs will be added to the site, and fans can sign-up to receive a free newsletter to inform them of new features as they are added.

Classic Rock Central is co-founded by Denny Somach, Andy Zipfel and Anthony Buono.

Denny Somach is one of the prolific producers of rock 'n roll programming for radio and television as well as an author and recognized rock historian. Somach's company DSP has been producing network radio programs for over 25 years as well as television programming for NBC, CBS, MTV, USA Network and more. Andy Zipfel is a marketing executive with over 20 years experience in media and entertainment, having contributed to the growth of some of the most successful media brands and properties in the world including AOL, ESPN and MTV Networks. Anthony Buono has been producing websites and technology solutions for over 10 years for clients such as AOL.

"Classic Rock Central provides the ability for music fans to listen to interviews by the artists whose music they know and love," said Denny Somach, chairman of Classic Rock Central. "Fans may have heard some of the interviews on the radio, and now they can hear those again. Many of the interview segments have never been heard before, as they may have been edited out when producing the original radio broadcast. The interest in classic rock music and artists spans the globe and several generations. Of the top twenty concert tours in 2005 ten were classic rock artists and those tours topped $700MM in tickets sales, and that's only in North America. The genre easily grosses well over $1B in U.S. ticket sales annually. I expect that when Pollstar announces their year end total for 2006 that classic rock will once again be on top."

Classic Rock Central Media has been transforming the extensive DSP audio library into digital formats in order to re-present the historic interviews and radio programs and create new programming for use on the web, radio, mobile. DSP has well over 10,000 hours of original programming that has been produced and syndicated over the past 25 years.

"The DSP audio library that Denny Somach has produced and archived is truly historical and is arguably the world's biggest independently owned audio library devoted to classic rock in the world," said Andy Zipfel, president of Classic Rock Central. "We started digitizing the analog library in order to create a powerful database of artist interviews and radio programs. The plan to use this archive -- on the web, on radio, on mobile devices -- is very exciting. We'll continue to promote classic rock artists, their albums, new releases and catalog, DVD sales and concert ticket sales."

Over time, the site will focus a great deal on user generated content and encompass features related to local music scenes in major cities. In addition, the site will provide original programming such as blogs, photo galleries and new audio and video programming. Somach added "the initial response from artists has been very positive. In fact we'll also be featuring unique performances from the personal archives of classic rock artists in our Private Reels section scheduled to launch in 2007."

"Until now, most radio programs aired and evaporated," said Anthony Buono, VP of Operations. Radio stations playing music over the air, via satellite, on the web, have great playlists of music, but they lack historical perspective, which is why this archive will be embraced by fans looking for more depth of information about their favorite rock artists. Classic rock means the music stands the test of time, so we'll also feature more recent artists like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, Lenny Kravitz and more."

Currently in beta, the site will be rolling out more content throughout 2007.
