The Jamestown Live! webcast aired on November 9, 2006 and was viewed by approximately 1 million students in 12 countries.

“Jamestown Live! Experience the Journey that Changed the World” informed students worldwide about the founding of America’s first permanent English settlement, Jamestown. The production was targeted to students in Grades 4-8. The event was extremely informative and highly entertaining; Professional singers and dancers, in costume, were used to help capture the culture at Jamestown in 1607. Jamestown Live!, was produced by New York based Prosody Creative Services and streamed via the internet by NJ based, Infinite Conferencing (http://www.infiniteconferencing.com). The event was also sponsored by the History Channel, who will broadcast Jamestown Live! in January, 2007.

Ken Ashby, President of Prosody Creative says Prosody did extensive research before trusting the Web-based event to Infinite Conferencing. Ashby stated, "Infinite Conferencing’s ability to deliver a webcast on this scale means educators may see more events on the order of Jamestown Live! in the future. The success of this event has shown the technology has become much more viable.” And Maris Segal, Co-executive Producer at Prosody Creative, says: “We expect webcasts that connect students through the familiar medium of the computer will become increasingly popular.”

“Planning to use this technology on such a huge scale meant our comfort boundaries were stretched on a daily basis,” says Ashby. “But, just as we anticipated, Infinite Conferencing made sure program delivery was seamless. They provided the pre-production support we needed, and answered every connectivity question we received prior to the event from schools around the world to ensure everyone had a good experience.

When asked to stream a live 400th anniversary of Jamestown, VA, Joe Buz, Director of Webcasting Services for Infinite Conferencing, was impressed by the scope and sized of the event. “We typically service corporations requesting to webcast product launches, training, company announcements, etc. I was pleased that our webcasting services were going to be used to assist in the education of students worldwide”.
