For the 7th time in as many years The Action Mega Martial Arts Weekend will assemble the world's largest array of enthusiasts, celebrities, champions and leading authorities in what is a diverse worldwide industry. In attendance will be world movers and shakers from each of the market segments that make up modern martial arts. Represented include major film companies, TV, and Film Celebrities, World champion Fighters, and World Masters of Renowned Fame
Representation from the entertainment industry runs the gamut from Action Film Superstars to industry celebrated choreographers, stunt & fight scene specialists, and national and international renowned directors and producers. This year's featured Sponsor in this arena is none other than New Line Home Entertainment, one of the leading home entertainment companies. New Line is a mainstay in the film and DVD industry and have such upcoming and current DVD titles including The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Snakes on a Plane, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Blade Trilogy, and Wedding Crashers just to name a few. New Line will be showcasing their soon to be released UNDISPUTED 2: LAST MAN STANDING (a sequel to the 2002 film starring Ving Rhames and Wesley Snipes), which will be released on DVD January 16th. The cast of the film, Michael Jai White and Scott Adkins, and director, Isaac Florentine, will be on hand to sign autographs and meet fans.
In honor of our Action Genre, New Line will also be hosting a special "Become a Martial Arts Star" Contest at the show. The contest is open to spectators of the show, and all contestants will be filmed and shown on a website where the general website audience will select the winners. Not only will the participants gain instant fame, but the top ten winners of the contest will receive a DVD Prize Pack from New Line Home Entertainment and the Grand Prize winner will receive $2500. Just possibly, we might end up with this generation's next Martial Arts Superstar.
Besides New Line Cinema, Don (The Dragon) Wilson will be filming a sequel on our trade show floor. Gorilla Productions will be shooting segments for SCI-FIGHTER 2 at the event. While some old timers may be still looking for the cameos of "Hitchcock," we feel sure that thousands of martial arts enthusiasts will be intent on finding the scene that they appear in, as soon as it's released. To complement this entertainment presence, there will be training workshops available for learning stunt work & fight scene choreography, hosted by Michael DePasquale Jr. of the ACTION FILM STUNT ACADEMY, and a Free "How to get into the entertainment business," hosted by Action Film mainstay, Karen Sheperd, who is well versed in these areas and heads a company for this very purpose. Loyal friends in the entertainment industry are strong supporters as well. The list of confirmed attendees include: Joe Piscopo, Carey Tagawa (Mortal Combat), Chuck Zito (Oz), Cynthia Rothrock (action film legend), Phil Morris (Seinfeld, Mission Impossible, Wanda at Large), Eric Lee, and Michael Jai White.
It should be noted that other elements of the entertainment industry will be on board as well. The publishing industry is well represented as well. Show Sponsor, BLACKBELT MAGAZINE, will be on hand to meet and greet the assembly of martial arts masters and magazine contributors.
They will be giving away free copies of the publication and giving advice on how to get published and known as an expert in your field. Show Co-Producer, Action Martial Arts Magazine will head a list of renowned publications onboard such as BUDO International, Kung Fu Magazine, Combat International (Ringside), Masters Publications, Rising Sun Productions and Yamazato Pub.
On the Business side of Martial Arts, the show has equally strong representation. The National Professional Martial Arts Association (Napma) will be on hand to offer insights and advice to our trade show audience. In addition, The Martial Arts Teachers Association (MATA) will be holding member certifications; and free clinics for interested parties.
If your interest lies in the merchant/trade arena within the industry, this is the place to be. Every imaginable area of resource is available on the trade show floor. Show Sponsor "Asian World of Martial Arts" leads a field of venders that will number close to 100 industry leaders. The field will also include names like Tiger Claw, Shaolin Brands, Kwan, Macho products, Member Solutions, Samurai Sports, CDT and man many more.
Lest we forget, the real success of the event comes from being a consumer friendly wonderland. Throughout the trade show, there are continuous Main Stage Shows and Demonstrations to feast the eyes, dazzle the mind, and educate spectators of the vast wealth of awe that martial arts of every imaginable ilk offer to all. Spectators watch world renowned swordsmen; Master handlers of staff, nunchakus, & stick fighting; or empty hand self defense and unbelievable feats of smashing concrete or slicing through wood or other objects.
When participants tire feasting their eyes, or shopping for unique products or services; we offer many additional "hands on" opportunities. Throughout the event, a continuous compilation of master instructors will hold free "introduction to" workshops on the arts that they are expert in. In all there will be nearly 30 free stage demonstrations and nearly 30 Training opportunities. All are included with the purchase of a trade show pass.
This year the event is sponsoring the "Night of 1000 Punches" which will be holding a "punchathon" throughout the trade show. Spectators can sponsor a volunteer contestant in the punchathon. Proceeds go to the International Brain Research Foundation. We, and the skilled researchers at IBRF support a vision of a world in which countless millions of men, women, and children worldwide will benefit from new discoveries for brain-related disorders which include; Learning Disabilities, ADD & ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Tourette's Syndrome, and more. These disorders impact families in life-altering, devastating manifestations of varying kinds and degrees. Few of us are or will be untouched in our lifetimes by these few examples of diseases that plague almost 9% of the United States population alone. We are proud to assist in this cause, and hope that all will attend and join us in this support.
Last year, nearly 7,000 attendees enjoyed good family fun at the Action martial arts Trade Show. In Addition, our companion event, The Action Magazine Hall of Fame (nicknamed the Academy Awards of Martial Arts) is a sight to see. Fourteen Hundred and Fifty (1450) guests in Formal Attire come together from every continent in the world. The dinner happens to be the largest catered dinner in Atlantic City, and it merges both mind body and spirit with the tradition, business and entertainment philosophies of our modern world. It's truly a great way to spend the day. There's plenty to see and do, and even more learn. Start your New Year, where the Action is!
