Imagine a World Without Religious Dogma and Fanaticism, a World Where Everyone Lives the Golden Rule…With or Without God

Healigion - a religion without God - by author Jim Lightwala offers a powerful examination of the consequences of religion throughout mankind's history. It looks at the origins and aspects of religious teachings and practices, and asks readers to open theirs minds to a belief system where it is not important if there is a god or not. "Healigion," Lightwala writes, "is a practice of ethics beyond 'belief.' It describes "the good qualities of all religions but condemns dogmas, blind faith, and conflict centered around the superior 'god' of each religion. Healigion gives a universalistic approach of how ethical practices--without a god in the formula--can reduce conflicts and improve human values to bring about a better world.

Greater Toronto Area (PRWEB) December 30, 2006 -- Healigion takes a close look at centuries of religious wars and persecution, atrocious acts of terrorism committed in the name of a god, and religious practices that continue today to repress basic human rights. It examines what Lightwala calls the "belief/faith mentality" and "herd behavior" that results in leaders being able to manipulate believers into becoming Muslim suicide bombers, Christian crusaders, or Sikh terrorists for a god who can reward them when they obey or send them to the fires of hell if they do not.

"Healigion," Lightwala explains, "combines the healing qualities of religion with the promotion of human rights, fairness, knowledge, goodwill, compassion, tolerance and inclusiveness of all regardless of race, religion, gender, color or origin. It all comes down to the core purpose of humanity, which begs the question: 'How can we be better humans?'"

Author Jim Lightwala was born in India to a Hindu family in 1937. He migrated to the western countries when he was twenty, arriving in Canada in 1967. A proud resident of Ontario, he is trained as an electrical technologist, and his published writings have appeared in lighting technology publications. It was his observations of religious practices and their results that led him to the writing of what may be deemed an extremely controversial book. He says of Healigion: "It is not intentional but it is inevitable that my thoughts will upset many people of strong faith. However, if it opens the door to questions around the world about the good and bad dogmas of various religions, this book will have achieved its purpose."
