Universal Background Screening Introduces OFAC SDN and USA SecuritySearch to Automate Employer Compliance with Anti-Terrorism Laws

Universal’s OFAC SDN search provides an immediate query of the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list maintained by the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC). A more expanded product, USA SecuritySearch™, also includes OFAC plus thirteen other lists of dangerous individuals.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) February 1, 2006 -- Universal Background Screening introduced two products today designed to help employers improve workplace security and comply with anti-terrorism laws.

According to federal law, all business must ensure that they do not engage in business dealings with an individual included on the OFAC SDN list. Certain industries, including financial services, import/export and travel, have additional requirements. Universal Background Screening recommends that employers check with their legal counsel or compliance officer to determine the appropriate level of screening for both new hires and existing employees.

“Universal Background Screening makes it easy for clients to include our OFAC SDN or USA SecuritySearch checks in every background check request,” said Kevin Olson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Universal Background Screening. “As both products deliver instant results, employers can quickly determine if the applicant has been designated as a possible danger to national security.”

For organizations that wish to demonstrate an enhanced level of due diligence, either by company policy, industry guidelines or law, Universal offers an expanded service called USA Security Search. Rather than the time consuming process of checking different lists provided by multiple agencies, Universal Background Screening offers a combined search that contains fourteen of the most important lists of dangerous individuals through one search. The database is updated as each agency provides new information.

The sources included in USA SecuritySearch include the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) and Blocked Persons List; Arms Export Control Act (AECA) Debarred Parties List; Australian Reserve Bank Sanctions List; Bank of England Sanctions List; Canadian Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) Sanctions List; Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Fugitives List; European Union Terrorism Sanctions List; FBI Most Wanted List; INTERPOL Most Wanted List; Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS); Secret Service Most Wanted List; U.S. Department of Commerce Denied Persons List; U.S. Marshals Most Wanted List and World Bank Listing of Ineligible Individuals.

Standard pricing for the instant OFAC SDN search is $3.00 per search, and only $5.00 for USA SecuritySearch. Both products are available immediately for existing and new clients.
