Record Growth of Solution Tree’s Professional Learning Communities at Work™ Institutes Reflects National Success of School Improvement Model

Educational resource company Solution Tree has doubled the attendance of Professional Learning Communities at Work™ Institutes for nine consecutive years. In 2006, Solution Tree Institutes will welcome more than 14,000 North American K-12 educators. This growth reflects the national success of the PLC school improvement model and Solution Tree's effectiveness in developing PLC resources.

Bloomington, IN (PRWEB) February 7, 2006 -- Indiana-based Solution Tree (formerly National Educational Service), publisher and provider of school improvement and youth-at-risk resources, will present Professional Learning Communities at Work™ to more than 14,000 North American K-12 educators through 13 Institutes in 2006. This marks a significant increase from the 90 educators that attended Institutes in 1998. By doubling Institute attendance for nine consecutive years, Solution Tree continues to meet the national need for research-based school improvement programs.

“I attribute the incredible growth of Solution Tree Institutes to our solid company focus on developing and providing educators with the proven educational resources they need to help their students learn,” said Solution Tree president Jeffrey C. Jones. “One of our most successful resources has been the professional learning communities model.”

We have expanded our focus beyond publishing. We now offer educators free online study guides, feature an online PLC network, and bring PLC experts to the schools through our Institutes
Considered one of the most effective school improvement models available, professional learning communities (PLC) promotes a collaborative culture that focuses on learning for all. Educators work together for continuous school and student improvement with the goal of helping all students reach their potential.

Solution Tree is home to Professional Learning Communities at Work™ and has worked closely with PLC experts Dr. Richard DuFour, Dr. Robert Eaker, and Rebecca DuFour to develop a comprehensive range of publications, events, and services for educators.

In addition publishing the complete line of DuFour and Eaker titles, including books, videos and DVDs, Solution Tree has also developed events and customized services that help educators gain a deeper understanding of PLC concepts and practical applications. PLC resources include a distance-learning course, on-site Coaching Academies, workshops, individualized consulting services with PLC Associates, and the fast-growing Solution Tree Institutes that feature Professional Learning Communities at Work™.

“We have expanded our focus beyond publishing. We now offer educators free online study guides, feature an online PLC network, and bring PLC experts to the schools through our Institutes,” said Jones. “Ultimately, our goal is to provide educators with all the tools they need to independently sustain and continuously improve their own professional learning communities.”

Solution Tree Professional Learning Communities at Work™ Institutes are designed to help educators implement the most promising strategies for improving their schools in substantive ways. Every aspect of the program offers specific, practical strategies to help educators apply the powerful concepts of the PLC model in their own school setting. Institutes offer collective inquiry into best practices, reflection, renewal, networking, and planning for implementation.

In addition to PLC-focused institutes, Solution Tree has teamed up with North America’s leading educational practitioners to offer institutes and workshops on Classroom Management for Academic Success, SMART School Teams, PASSport to Success, Crisis Management and Response, Assessment for Learning, Effective Schools, Harbors of Hope, and grant writing.

Founded in 1987 and based in Bloomington, Indiana, Solution Tree (www.solution-tree.com) publishes and provides resources for educators in North America who work in the areas of school improvement and youth at risk. Solution Tree’s timely and proven materials and events include research-based books, videos and DVDs, professional development services, institutes, summits, and online tools.
