Full Sail Graduates Participate in a Record Number of Nominated Projects at the 48th Annual GRAMMY Awards

110 graduates worked on GRAMMY-Nominated projects in 66 separate categories, including graduates Phil Tan and Andrew Coleman, both nominated for Album and Record of the Year.

Winter Park, FL (PRWEB) February 4, 2006 -- In 2005, an incredible 110 graduates from Full Sail Real World Education were involved in the production of 76 individual projects nominated for a GRAMMY Award in 66 separate categories. This is a record number of Full Sail Graduates who have worked on nominated projects in any single year.

In addition, graduates Phil Tan and Andrew Coleman were directly nominated for multiple GRAMMY awards for their engineering efforts on Gwen Stefani’s album, Love Angel. Music. Baby, and on Mariah Carey’s album, The Emancipation of Mimi. Both albums have been nominated for Album of the Year and Record of the Year, and each of the two graduates have earned nominations in both categories as well.

Tan received four nominations, one each for his mixing work on Album of the Year nominees for Carey and Stefani, and one each for Record of the Year nominees, “We Belong Together” (Carey) and “Hollaback Girl” (Stefani). Coleman received three nominations for his work on The Emancipation of Mimi and Love. Angel. Music. Baby, and as a Recording Engineer on “Hollaback Girl.” Therefore, both men are eligible to receive a GRAMMY Award of their own if the nominated artists win.

As an employee of Atlanta-based Rapper/Producer/Songwriter/Record Mogul, Jermaine Dupri, Tan is achieving incredible success and recognition within the music industry. "Phil is the best engineer I've ever worked with because he makes it a point to understand the music that he's mixing, so it makes your work sound ten times better,” said Dupri. Jay Noble, Full Sail’s Alumni Representative stated, “Our graduates work extremely hard throughout their careers, earning their way into the credits on so many outstanding releases. This year Full Sail is very proud to see the talents of Phil Tan and Andrew Coleman recognized by the industry at large. It must be such an honor to know that the industry you have dedicated your life to has singled your work out as one of the year’s best!”

For 12 out of the last 12 years, a Full Sail graduate has worked on every GRAMMY Award-winning Album of the Year including: Norah Jones, Come Away With Me, OutKast’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, and last year’s Album of the Year, Genius Loves Company by Ray Charles.

This year as in year’s past, Full Sail graduates are represented across many GRAMMY categories including: Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Rock Album, Best Alternative Music Album, Best Rap Album, Best Raggae Album, and Best Musical Show Album.
