Rowe Pottery Works’ New Salt-Glazed Pottery Historical Collection Inspired by Early America

Premier salt-glazed pottery creator, Rowe Pottery Works, has released its annual Historical Collection for 2006. Inspired by Early American homes of Pennsylvania and New York, this unique series of pottery is as useable as it is beautiful.

Cambridge, WI (PRWEB) February 7, 2006 -- Rowe Pottery Works of Cambridge, Wisconsin, has unveiled its 2006 Historical Collection, extending the collectable line of traditional blue and grey salt-glazed pottery that replicates useful and decorative items from America’s earliest years. The collection is available through the spring catalog, Rowe Pottery’s Web site www.rowepottery.com, the Rowe Pottery Company Store in Cambridge, Wisconsin, and shops throughout the country starting in February.

The new collection brings to life objects from the Early American homes of Pennsylvania and New York in the prosperous decades between 1820 and 1860. The simple forms, then and now, are created to be used, not just admired.

Perfect for the country-design enthusiast who admires authentic and useful pieces, the 2006 Historical Collection fashioned in traditional salt-glazed pottery includes a working one-gallon countertop water cooler, a straight-sided butter churn, two simple lidded canisters, an open cream bowl, a one-quart canteen and ten-ounce tumblers.

Using the beloved blue and grey colors, Rowe Pottery decorators have added a touch of art, with tactile lines of design by applying a slip trail, rather than brushed glaze, for decoration. True to historical roots, the interiors and lids are glazed in the deep brown Albany glaze.

Re-creating a set of pottery pieces that hearken back to Early American design is a part of the Rowe Pottery tradition. We’ve been releasing a one-of-a-kind set each year since 1996
“Re-creating a set of pottery pieces that hearken back to Early American design is a part of the Rowe Pottery tradition. We’ve been releasing a one-of-a-kind set each year since 1996,” explained Justin Janisch, Rowe Pottery president. “Our design team combines historical and customer research with our unique salt-glazed pottery style to develop a pottery set that collectors and home owners use to fulfill authentic country and traditional interior decorating styles,” he continued.

The Rowe Pottery Works 2006 Historical Collection will be available until the end of 2006, after which it will be retired.

About Rowe Pottery Works
Rowe Pottery Works was established in 1975 in Cambridge, Wisconsin. Starting as a two-person pottery studio, it is now a group of artisans, each with unique talents and skills. Interest in collecting antique cobalt blue decorated salt-glazed pottery crocks and jugs was the inspiration to change the studio's pottery product line in early 1980. Since then, Rowe Pottery has been making museum-quality reproductions of Early American salt-glazed crocks and jugs. In addition, the line has recently expanded to include new products, warm colors and bold designs.
