Cincinnati Playwrights Group Announces Competition Winners, February New Voices Reading, and New Officers
Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative has announced the winners of its annual competition, the February New Voices Reading, and its new officers.
Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) February 8, 2006 -- Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative (CPI) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2005 CPI Developmental Workshop Series Competition. This year's winning playwrights are: First place: Chuck Sambuchino, for his play Scorched Earth; Second place: E. Trach, for his musical entitled Sugar and Spice; and Honorable Mention: Renee Alper, for her play entitled Roll Model. A panel of judges comprised of actors, directors, and producers from the greater Cincinnati area selected the award-winning plays. Scorched Earth and Sugar and Spice will receive workshop productions at local venues and times to be announced.
The CPI New Voices Series of stage readings continues with An Evening of Two One-acts on Tuesday, February 14, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. A Debt to Football by Roger Brookfield, and Mourning View by Denise Stoner will be presented at the Fifth Third Bank Theatre Aronoff Center for the Arts, corner of Main St. and 7th Street. The newly elected Executive Board Officers for CPI are Phil Paradise, President; Pauline Smolin, Vice President; Denise Stoner Barone, Secretary; and Alan Jozwiak, Treasurer.

Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative is a grassroots arts organization of local playwrights, directors and actors devoted to bringing new plays by local playwrights to the Cincinnati stage. CPI is a 501 (c) 3 arts organization and holds monthly meetings the second Sunday of the month at 7 pm. on the 4th Floor of French Hall on the University of Cincinnati campus off Jefferson Avenue.
