“The Mentor” sculptural trophy was first designed for Wal-Mart’s First Tee Open at Pebble Beach in 2004, and approved by Mr. Palmer himself. Arnie is shown teaching youngsters in the fine art of putting. The figures of Palmer and the youngsters measure 9" high (or 1/8 scale), and are fitted onto a 13" diameter by 5" high wood and marble base. The overall height is just above 16 inches.

Only three “Mentor” sculptures exist today. One was awarded to Hale Irwin upon winning the 2005 First Tee Open; another to Craig Stadler after his 2004 tournament victory. The piece in the auction is the third.
